Hello everyone,
I have a 9241 receiver and a 6.3 IR/UHF PRO remote. There are no other TV's/receivers/remotes in the entire house, all proper connections are made, and the UHF antenna is properly connected and easily visible. I purchased both 10 months ago and all was fine until I bought a coffee table that now blocks the view between the remote and receiver.
I looked at the manual and this forum under multiple search words to figure out why the remote had to be directed perfectly over the coffee table to work. I discovered the RF (UHF) was never actually set and the coffee table was blocking the IR signal!
What I did, exactly:
1. Turned on receiver.
2. Pressed 'System Information' on the receiver and noted "Remote Address: 1 IR" on the display.
3. Opened the battery pack, left the A/B switch to A, flipped the other switch from the black side to the UHF PRO grey side, pressed and held the 'SAT' button until all the mode buttons lit up, entered '2', pressed 'Pound', watched the 'SAT' button flash three times for verification, and watched the display change to say "Remote Address: 2 UHF PRO A".
4. Pressed 'Select' on the remote but nothing happened - the remote no longer works.
Variations I've tried:
1. I have tried multiple variations regarding the number entered (including 1), the A/B switch position, and the amount of times I pressed 'Record'. The "Remote Address" on the display has always changed to the correct number, name, and letter.
2. I have tried pressing 'Power' on the remote at stage 4 above vs. 'Select' and again nothing happens.
3. I have confirmed the "Remote Address" was actually changed within the remote. (I pressed and held 'SAT' until all mode buttons lit up, pressed 'Pound' twice, and watched the 'SAT' button flash the corresponding number of times. Egg, twelve flashes if I had chosen a "Remote Address" of twelve and 12 was shown in the 'System Information' display.)
4. I have tried pressing the 'Select' button on the receiver (vs. remote) at step 4 above and it turns the "System Information" display off but the remote still does not work. When I press 'System Information' on the receiver again the "Remote Address" in the display is automatically changed back to 1 AR and the remote will not work until I change it's address back to 1 and flip the grey switch back to the black side.
What am I missing?
Please Help!
Thank you very much.
