Switching Plans?

I have the 600 Fav 5 account with the $4.99 for 400 text messages. I wanted to go to the 300 Fav 5 and add the $14.99 unlimited text messege plan. They said they would need to extend my contract for a year. Does this sound right?

That's correct because that is changing your original contract. It usually starts on the day you switch plans. As far as your text message goes, you can add them or cancel them anytime. That can be prorated. The only thing that will extend your contract would be a change on your voice plan.~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Its because TMO considers the 5 Fav plans as a promotional plan and anytime you change to a promotional plan it restarts your contract
