Switching from sprint

I hope I am not repeating a question that gets asked over and over - I am new - about switching to t-mobile. My situation is this:

I have been with sprint since "97 and have just this month decided to consider t-mobile. I like their devices, the coverage seems better and it seems like they seem to be more innovative. I bought a t-mobile BB 8100 on CL and got a month to month to try it out and so far I dig it.

I want to transfer four lines over from sprint but to make it worth the move I would like to get a plan that is comperable and some new equiptment. At sprint I currently have four lines sharing 2000 minutes, ulimited data and messaging, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7 and free mobile to mobile on the sprint network. Alll this comes in at around $200 per month.

That being said, can I expect a smiler plan at a smiler cost with t-mobile? Also what can I expect as far as discounting on equipment - providing I sign a two year agreement? I am interested in the BB 8120 and I would like two of those for free. I am expecting to much? Also, what is the best way to approach (ie department to call - things to say) that will help ensure I get the besat possible deal?

By the way, I am new to the forums and my name is David. I hope to become an active part of the community here shortly. I appreciate your time and replies.

Cheers!
David

about 200 bucks... and if you are going to get a BB when you move to Tmo.... get the 8900... dont downgrade when you can upgrade.

here is a website that provides a ton of information about prices and services: www.t-mobile.com

welcome to the stacks

Thanks for the reply, I have looked at the site but I can't find an option for adding blackberry data as one lump sum for all lines; I remember the sales clerk at the store mentioning this. That leaves a $25 charge for every line on top of the plan.
As far as the curve, I will take a look at it but from what I understand it has the same feature set as the 8120, except it's a little larger and has a full qwerty keyboard. Am I missing something?

Edit: Check that! You were right the curve has a much larger feature set.

yes it is per line for the data plan.... txting can be for the whole family, wifi hotspots can be for the whole family, but BB data is a per line basis.

processor is faster on 8900, more memory on the 8900, new operating system on the 8900, full keyboard, better camera on 8900, better screen on the 8900, ... do i need to keep going?

the one thing that brought our family to tmo is the way better customer care...

good luck in your decision making!

Yup, customer service on tmobile is imaculate... That's why I've always loved them... And the 8900, as mentioned above, is in a league of its own.

Blackberry services are individual and per line...

Good luck with your decision. Personally, wouldn't mind paying a tad bit extra just to be on tmobile...

Good luck with your decision...

I'm curious to hear what you end up paying monthly. That's $100 just for the bb data.

The 8900 looks like a great phone. Hope you get it if you do switch.

Hi David!

I recently switched back to sprint from tmo about 3 months ago.

I had an 8100 pearl with them and was hoping to upgrade to the 8120. When I was eligable for an upgrade, they still wanted almost $300.00 even with the upgrade!

We were paying $129.99 for 2 phones, one BB and one basic slider phone, no data plan and 800 minutes to share.

With sprint we are paying $129.00 a months for 3 phones, which are a palm centro, BB 8130 and BB curve 8330, unlimited data, texts and 1800 minutes a month. Sprint offers a much Bette deal with upgrades too. My pearl cost $79.00 and the curve $99.00. Both considerably less then the $300.00 that tmo wanted for just one phone.
Tmo service is pretty good service when they don't make billing errors. They're customer service is great, very friendly and we always had great reception. For my husband and I though that wanted the full BB experience, sprint is the way to go. They have the best upgrade deals and data plans.

Good luck!!

My experience with sprint is 50/50

I've never used cellular service with them but I've almost always heard my friends complaining about it...

However, I used sprint's cellular wireless EVDO modem with my laptop and the service was awesome... Amazing... Couldn't praise it enough... And their rates at that time were approx $20 lower than verizon...

BUT... Their customer service was deplorable... And my rebate took 7 months to come...

T-Mobile by far has the best customer service. Don't just look at the deals signing up look at the whole picture. I think it's worth it to pay a little more if you're getting what you pay for.

I was with sprint years ago, with them about 7years. Had the s.e.r.o plan. Customer service was worst of all servers I've been with. I was a good customer with excelent credit with them.didn't like given my s.s# to folks over seas,an was roaming a lot.tmobile is great. There coverage aint as big. But the hot spot at home fixed that for me and my faves.plus their knowlege on bbs, horrible(sprint). Any issue I've had with tmo. Has been resolved.goin on 3 years. And ull have all the help u need here on rabroad . The switch is worth it.an go 8900
Lol as I was sending this, the power went out here.so if this comes up a few times,my apoligies.

Thanks for this. I am hoping I have the same good experience myself when I make the switch next year. I want the Treo Pro with the Everything Messaging (900 minutes for $69.99).

Hey your right. You're not gonna find a cheaper all inclusive like Sprint offers. Me & my wife were with Verizon for 8 yrs (too long). We shopped all around & Sprint kills everyone. Our plan is $129.99 (minus her employee discount making our plan $117.00) & includes both our BLACKBERRY's (8330) & 1500 min, plus 7pm nights. Our prayer now with Sprints continuing drop in sales is that T-Mobile (& its rumored) will buy them & well have the best of both worlds. Sprints low rates with T-Mobile coverage. Best of luck!

I've had both services. Tmobile and Sprint. My experience is that sprint is a little less expensive, but they have the absolute worst, most ghetto customer service I've ever seen in my life, and are clueless when u call in and ask ?'S related to blackberries. Tmobile on the other hand has the best customer service and knowledge on their phones, coverage not as good and a little more expensive but I will gladly pay more for better service, just waiting for my contract to end so I can run as far away from Sprint as possible.

I made the switch a year ago I was paying 90 dol to sprint for 1400 min 2 lines then when I've tryed to add a third line they say that I wasn't eligible, now I'm paying 156 doll with 3 lines 3000min unltd text a data plan on a bb 8320 (i get it for 50 bucks) but that's a different story
