switching carriers and phones, deciding on what phone to go with through cingular now

i like how my 870 had the data cable and how i could use webjal to customize the phone, wasnt too fond of the 'tap' method for texting though

is there any phones you would recommend looking into that would be comparable to what im looking for

yes, with the 870 and data cable i was able to take pics/mp3's and wav's from my comp and put them on it with webjal

im looking for something that can do stuff like that

How about changing the skin, wallpaper, ringtones, applications, games, fonts, icons, outer LCD picture, screen saver, startup/shutdown animations, custom sounds, firmware, etc. Is that enough stuff to modify? All this done with programs that are far better than WebJAL, and still use a data cable. Throw a Bluetooth dongle on the computer, and send wallpapers/pics/ringtones/games/apps and the like back and forth as much as you want.

i think i meant to say usb cable? but either way, those modifications would be fine, can they be done with only the phone you mentioned or the S.E. w810i as well?

nooo, i know they dont, but i liked all the things i could do with it using webjal (custom mp3s/wav's as ringtones, custom picture call id, custom screen savers, yada yada yada) also, the camera and video clips

im wondering if the razr v3r is similar

At some point, hopefully soon, you are going to come to realize what I have been saying. WebJAL only works with Nextel phones, and it is a horrible program. There are so many other programs out there that work with other phones, specifically GSM phones, specifically the Vxxx series from Motorola, V3, V3i, etc. that you are going to laugh at WebJAL. Go back and read my post about everything that can be done with the plain RAZR V3. I don't about the V3r.

There are manufacturer programs, like Motorola Phone Tools, but that does not work with Nextel phones. It isn't really a carrier based thing either. Anyone with a GSM V3 can mod their phone like I did, using those programs.

Sure. www.motox.info or www.motomodders.net and you can't forget www.modmymoto.com along with www.hackthev3.com That should keep you busy for about 9 months or so.

thanks for your info, hopefully ill find a phone i like and can start with all that.. cingular is gonna wish i stayed with nextel

for some reason electronics and me are clashing lately
