Switching from CDMA to sim using the same phone

I have a Verizon Blackberry 8703e (CDMA). I want to switch to AT&T(Sim card), but keep this same phone. Is this possible or did I waste money on this phone? I have heard of ruim, but really not sure what it is. I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks so much.
 
You've definitely wasted your money. CDMA and GSM are different and incompatible technologies. Moreover, the particular phone you mentioned doesn't have a SIM card slot, so you have no place to put the SIM card. As to R-UIM cards, they are similar to SIM cards, but again the phone you have doesn't support this. In the end, though, it wouldn't make a difference due to the two technologies being incompatible.
 
Don't think it will work. I'm also a former verizon wireless customer, and we had to buy new phones in order to use ATT, as my less-than-1 year old Krzr would not work on our new service plan :(
