Swing set for my toddler?

Hello mommies.

I would like to put a swing in the yard for my daughter. I don't want a whole big swing set, just a way to hang a toddler swing at a decent height. I found some $130 swing and slide combo, but the swing is so low to the ground and it barely swings. No thanks.

Do they sell swing frames that are meant for just one swing? Or could one be safely made out of say, pvc pipe? I rent, not own, so a full size swing set is out of the question.

I wouldn't try to build one - it is too risky for injury. My neighbor's son was 20 months old when he half jumped/fell off a normal swing into the yard and broke his leg. Not even a hard fall.

Is there a tree nearby? They sell toddler swings that you can buy a length of chain for and loop it around a very strong branch and use enough chain for it to hang. Low to the ground isn't that great since the parent has to push and it should be higher. The toddlers swings are usually a bucket type with a T bar and a snap belt ...

do you have any trees in your yard? or the frame of a deck perhaps? could you hang one somewhere that already exists instead of building a frame?
i have a swing that hooks onto a tree branch and when we lived in an apartment we bolted it into the bottom of the upstairs neighbours balcony...
