I am in a cast now for 3 weeks with a broken humerus, the swelling went down where my humerus is but now there is swelling in my lower arm, hands and fingers, where there is no broken parts, my cast did fit well but for the last couple of days now it tightened up, i read up and they say to elevate over my heart but my doctor says I am not aloud to because it is suppose to be a hanging cast, what can i do and is it dangerous??

You really need to see your PMD or orthopedist and have the cast checked on and/or replaced. It sounds like you are having some dependent edema from the cast being too tight on your upper arm. When you lie down at night put your forearm on a couple pillows on your side so that your arm is elevated above the level of your heart. This should help reduce some of the swelling to your forearm/hand/fingers. If you are experiencing pain or numbness to go along with this you really need to have the cast checked.
