Swedish Wallander Series 2

Many thanks for the list sickBocks, most useful. Should there be another episode in series 2. there are only 12 listed and you mention episodes 18-26?
Also the article on Johanna Salstrom, what a sad life. I wondered about her daughter and hoped that she wasn't in the apartment when her mother died. How bad must the depression have been to make her leave her child.

Thanks for that, it filled in the gaps in our knowledge of her life and death.

For those who haven't yet seen the whole of series 1 though, there's a big spoiler in the comments underneath.

Lots of action in this week's episode, but why was Wallander lounging around smoking towarRAB the end when there was a GPS track on the security van? The woman who was shot also seemed to make a Pontus-style recovery.

The second Swedish Wallander series is far inferior to the first.

Tonight's episode just did not really hang together. It was a very inferior plot about drug trafficking that would have been rejected by The Bill, and the sub plots about the police characters are wafer thin.

I shall still watch the rest because I like the fact that it is set in Sweden and find the cultural differences interesting, but this series lacks almost all the good features of the first one.

And as for a comparison with the Branagh ..... (sorry I am sure that nobody wants to start another pointless argument about that).

Poor old Svartmann, you just know that his wife and mother-in-law got really annoyed when the were late for the meal.

At least he featured more than Dumb and Dumber (Pontus and Isabelle) this week.

He puts me in mind of Reg Hollis in the Bill in that non of the other officers seem to respect him but when push comes to shove he's a good cop.

As for the bent ex-policeman's wife recovering too quickly from being shot we don't really know how much time elapsed between her being shot and the final scene of the episode with Kurt and his bit of stuff on the beach. As for her husband he might just as well have a a sign saying "I'm a crook" in six ft high flashing neon letters above his head.

I was out and only got back in time to watch from when they discovered the mobile phones in the bedroom.

Did Pontus and Isabelle (Rebekka) say they were leaving earlier in the programme, as I didn't realise it until Wallender said he would miss them at the end.?

They wash 'em down every day or it would look like an abattoir. :o

Tough story tonight which was hard to watch. Lost count of the bad policing shown.

Also Kurt's new Saab is a rotten colour , what was he thinking.

I missed the first series of Spiral but had heard that it was good, watched the second series which was so gripping that I almost couldn't bear to watch it...if you know what I mean!

I gave up my telly a couple of months ago, haven't missed it really, one of the few things I watch on i-player is Wallander, it's my fave!

The Swedish name is the same and a quick google suggests that Morkret (with umlaut...) means Darkness. It may be that the episodes were given different titles when presented in English. Some might use the new title while others go for the literal translation but the episode title in Swedish is the same.

You can find an episode listing on imdb here which lists 13 episodes for both seasons but these are spread over 4 years, which may be the reason for some of the confusion.
