I Will be waiting until most titles drop to around the

I hope that day doesn't come anyday soon. I'm still a CD buyer, prefer them over downloaded music, I'll be the same with films. I just like to have the physical object.

Me too.
The day is already here that films are distributed online .
I've downloaded a couple of films in HD via the Playstation Store and they were quite good so while I can see downloading being a useful tool to aid movie rentals I can't see it making much difference to movie collectors like you and me who will always want a hard copy..

Same for music.
While I have paid about 70p each for a couple of tracks I could not find on Limewire I would never dream of buying an entire album by downloading it.

If I want the album I want the disc.

The prices the PS3 store charges to buy films is not going to help the market either with download prices double the cost of many of the dvd's and none have 5.1 sound

It's generally accepted that Blu-ray is probably going to be the last hard format, but I guess like music there'll still be a market for buying them individually rather than downloading them off the net.

For me I've replaced a few DVD films with their Blu-ray counterparts, most notably Casino Royale and the Life of Brian (the early Paramount DVD issue that eventually scratched), I have about 20 Blu-rays in all but I do tend to be quite wary of what I buy on Blu-ray. I try and stick to bargains and cheaper Blu-rays, I bought the Michael Keaton Batman on it last year and as a great film it is, I may aswell have just bought it on DVD.

For now I'm quite happy using my BR player to play DVRAB too, the quality is pretty good. It's no different than me chosing to watch some channels on my V HD box (via HDMI) than watching the DTT channels on my IDTV.

I would regard rebuying your dvd collection for bluray as maddness!! the quality is noticably different - but not that much!! and for me, it doesnt change the quality of the enjoyment of the film.
however, this is just my view of it.
I personally dont buy a lot of dvRAB anymore. I used to. i used to buy a hell of a lot. A hell of a lot of VHS also years before. i got myself a ps3 in december and anything new out, i will get on bluray. In 10 month, I only have 15 titles.
saying that, i actually replaced 2 from my VHS collection on bluray (a small amount i saved, for keepsake and unplayed and left in storage for 6 years now) that i never bought on dvd.
I am bascially still quite happy with those old dvRAB.

however, saying all that - i made an exception recently!! Aliens is regarded as my fave film of all time. thus i made the exception and preordered the special special edition boxset of this. a little expensive - but the egg ios going to be a nice statue for my drawers!! From what i have read about it, the new BD dont seem to offer anything different from the Quadrilogy realise some years ago. I may not have bothered if it wasnt for that silly statue which i seemed to get a hard on for.
and now, these films will be ones i own on VHS, dvd and now BD.
