A good news to you all...you can now upgrade your receiver during the contract WITH NO PENALTY!

If he's renting and the dish, switch and wires are all in place, then what's so hard about installing a different receiver?

Why would you pay someone to unpack a box and plug in a few wires.

When you rearrange your living room, should I be calling Bev for a tech to unplug and reconnect my receiver, c'mon, this is friggin' ridiculous.

Sure an extra line for the PVR upgrade, that's it.

Sounds like a money grab to me.

O god lol.. Is this all because i bitched last week about not being able to swapp rentals?? lmao.. Finaly Bev does something to benefit me.

So does this mean i can say, " Hey i want a PVR," so they come to my house, install and off they go? or am i still being reamed in the Rear end with this fee and that fee?

So just when is EV going to give me a credit for the dish, LNBs and SW44 I had to buy? When is EV going to upgrade my receivers that were purchased at a high price? Those things cost EV just as much to do for rental customers as they do for people who purchased. Yet long term customers are just expected to pay the higher fees that subsidize those costs for new customers.

You won't encoutered any penalty for returning the receiver to get another "upgraded" version, but you would have to pay the technician's charge to install the new receiver

Also if you want tp "upgrade" your receiver to a HD one you will still have to pay the upgrade kit and get refunded on the next bill

ARR this is a compagny's policy...not something that we hide to the client. Wen you are calling in to place a rental order we mention the cost for tech. You ether agree or buy one

'bout time EV started treating their customers decently. Now how about the people who bought $2000 in HD equipment and are getting reamed by monthly programming increases to subsidize new customer hardware giveaways?

Right, because it was not new equipment. It was the same model of reciever as you had.

But say for example you went from a 6100 to 9200... you would need to have it installed, or the other way, from a 9200 to a 6100.

So yes, the explanation holds true.

Nem, who is tired today...

I'll admit it - if it came down to paying an installation fee for them to swap a receiver, I might just instead pay the fee to cancel my contract instead.

Depending on the model of the receiver it might end up being cheapear keeping the receiver and returning it after the 2 years.

Well no, I'm not going to pay for a receiver that I don't want.

How much is the fee to cancel a contract outright? If I have 18 months left of a contract, for example, what would the fee be? And what would the install cost for a 9200 be?

What free hardware are you talking about? Whether new or existing customer, the prie of the receivers are the same, the rental price is the same!

An existing client that decides to add HD TV to an existing combo and doesn't have the upgrade kit would pay the upgrade piece on a credit card and will get credited on te next bill after they activated the programming requiring that upgrade.

I really don't get that part about giving to new clients...

If, for example, i rent a 9200 MPEG 2 and change for a 9200 MPEG 4, do i need a technician ? It's just unplugged the MPEG 2 and plugged the MPEG 4, it's the same power cord (), same cable, everything is in place now.

So, do i need a technician and pay 75$ ?

Question:What's the penalty cancelling my All-in-One ExpressVu service?

Answer:All new All-in-One subscribers have a 2-year term:

All-in-One equipment commitment: You must keep all equipment for the duration of the term commitment or you will be charged an early termination penalty of $99 for your 1st receiver and $50 for each additional receiver under the Agreement.

Early account deactivation fee: If you cancel your All-in-One ExpressVu service before your contract term is complete, you'll be charged $27 for English programming, $22 for French, per month for the number of months you have remaining on your contract up to a $100 maximum.

Good move from Bell ! Maybe for customers who want to swap from MPEG 2 to MPEG 4 receivers.

So, if i rent a 9200 and i want to swap for a "9200" MPEG 4 receivers, do i get the penalty ?

That makes about as much sense as charging $75 to install a rented water heater. It just doesn't happen, it's included in the rent. This is just one more example of EV harassing paying customers when other BDUs do not.

BTW, I'm still waiting for my $2200 check for my equipment and hardware. In return I'll agree to pay $50/mo rental for 1 year and expect them all to be upgraded with MPEG4 receivers when they are available.

Cancelling a rental receiver is 149$, if the model you are renting is 4100-3100 at
3$/month i would cost you 54$ only therfore cheaper

Te deactivation charges you refer to are the programming one. Cancelling a rental receiver is a different story...

If you currently do not have the second LNBF installed you will be eligible for the Nimiq 2 free upgrade promo and your receiver will be installed FREE OF CHARGE. You would only have to pay the cost of the upgrade pece upfront on a credit card, and this will be cedited back on your first Express Vu bill after you activated programming requiring the upgrade. Also you will get HD free of charge for 6 months if you are renting
