Suzuki M90 or Harley Fat Bob?

Now that Suzuki has come out with a crusier between the 50 & 109 serries I am torn between the two. Suzuki is cheaper but the Harley you can customize to death. I guess it comes down to $$$. But if $$$ was not a concern? Which would you choose and why?
Let me know.

Apples and oranges. Besides, seeing how you posted this on the Boulevard forum of the Suzuki section, I'm guessing you already know which one you want. ;)

You've got to forget how to wave to non-Harley riders if you get a Hog.

I respect and appreciate bikes of all makes, but not big on paying for a name, so no way I'd ever be buying HD unless their prices came down to match the jap bikes.
Won't buy a Hummer either - same reason.
:)

Dr. Bob,
If they are apples and oranges what is the best and worst of each? Why are Harleys so much more $$$? I live by Cooks Corner here in OC and it is 90% Harleys. No two Harley's are a like and the following is dedicated. The Asian bikes have a divided market they are pretty much the same. I am not trying to answer my own questions but looking for the pros and cons of each.
I posted the question here because of the Suzuki preference and I currently ride a Bandit and this site has good feedback.
Thanks for the information guys.
Loki Ca, you have a point.

I know what your asking but I can't pretend that HD's are priced similarly, because there not. I like some of the HD bikes (such as the new 09' V-Rod Muscle - Awesome!) but cost is always a factor one has to consider when purchasing one IMO.

IF Harleys' were priced more in line with the Metric competitors & offered more Liquid Cooled motors I would be a bigger fan.

IF You want the Classic American cruiser & you want to be apart of the HD family then do that.

The bikes are totally different. M90 is a modern, sleek looking muscle crusier, Liquid Cooled, Shaft Drive, Softtail Hidden Shock, 5-speed, Inverted Front Forks ($9,999.00)

The HD Fatbob has classic cruiser styling, Air Cooled, Dual Exposed Rear Shocks, Chain Drive, 6-speed (nice) ($14,999.00)

Whatever you do, don't let anyone pressure you into buying either bike. Ride your ride brotha!

That's the reason that this is such a great site. All of the answers are civil and even supportive. I would be curious to see what the responses would be on a dedicated Harley site.

I totally agree with Loki, but if i could afford the harley of my choice would be a Heritage soft tail Classic. (Just cant get away from the classic style, lovin it)8)

It's nothing much against Harley's, but I could buy Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki and customize the CRAP out of it for what it would cost me to buy a stock Harley.

You say %90 of people in your area have a harley. Do you want to be just like them? Do you want to compare who spent the most on crome? I have ridden alot of harleys and they are nice bikes, but not nicer than the japanese bikes. Having a harley is more of a status symbol than anything. Most harley guys I meet the first thing they say is how much they paid for the crome on the bike, and it's usualy more than I paid for my bike. Now if money is no option and you want to be accepted into your local bike scene than by all means buy a harley. If you just want to ride and you dont care what others say then buy the suzuki and put the money you saved in the tank.

Not to split hairs on this, but I try to be accurate with this kind of stuff. The HD website in the specs. page describes the primary drive for the Fatbob as "Chain - 34/46 Ratio".

If I'm misreading this, please set me straight. I've been wrong before.

I ride a crotch rocket and I get waved at by 90% of the Harley riders.

Anyway, pick the bike that makes you happy. Harley is about image. If their bikes were in line with the prices of the Japanese, the image would suffer. I have said it many times, motorcycles are not rational purchases. If they were, no one would ever buy one. Don't let any one give you any flack. Get the one you want (and can reasonably afford).

I am not a Harley guy, but isn't the "primary drive" the big bulky part that sticks off the left side? And then the final drive is belt?

This one has a ridiculously wide belt on the primary, but it gets my point across.

I don't know. Now I'm confused!!! All I know is that I got a perfectly running Suzuki with a shaftdrive.

How about his, don't buy the Harley. Belts, chains who knows. :fight1: Go with the dad-gum riceburner! ;)
