Suzuki GS500F starter bike for a girl?

Hey there.
I'm just getting my M2 after taking a motorcycle course, and i'm looking at the Suzuki GS500F as my starter bike. Is this a good choice? I've heard so many people getting 250's as their starter, but then in a few months they want something bigger, so i'm hoping to dodge that stone & buying a medium sized one.
I'm 5'4 & normal weight. Anyone have advice on this bike? I was told that the seat may be a bit too high for me.

id go for the 250 if your just started riding.than upgrade once your ready.unless you feel comfortable riding a 500 first off.

also the 250 and 500 are pretty much the same size, just has different engine power.

Try sitting on the vehicle first. If you can stand it straight up with both feet flat on the ground, not your tip-toes, not the balls of your feet, then it should work out for you. the GS500F is a really good starting sport bike.

The real concern is your ability to fit to the bike. Without both feet flat on the ground, this could pose a problem.

I'm not going to argue with people that try to tell me that someone that is 5'0" tall can sit on a 30.5 inch seat with both feet on the ground. I already know this is a load of crap as my wife is 5'1" and we spent weeks finding her a bike.

My advice is to go sit on one. That's going to be the biggest question in regard to this bike. Otherwise yes, it's a great starter bike.

I would recommend getting a 250 like the other people.
yeah, you'll probably want to up grade rather soon, but I know a lot of guys that start out with something big, and then end up regretting it cause its just too much power to start riding with.

The GS500F will be just fine, it's not too big of a gap from the 250. It's a very nice starter bike that won't be ruthless in high RPM's. But it's also a good bike to have fun on, I'd recommend it.
