Suzuki Forenza Got hot all of a sudden no problems before this happened....?

going down the interstate doing 70 noticed ac wasn't putting out cold air, looked down and temp gauge was almost in red. Pulled over and stopped had it towed so I wouldn't cause any more damage. motor will turn over but smelled antifreeze when this happened... Any ideas, thermostat, water pump, rediator.. Since it didn't make it all the way into the red what are my chances of the head cracking??? Thanks
