Assuming it's not stolen, find a friend that works at a mechanics shop, or a body shop, or a towing company.
They have the power to put a lien on a vehicle that was left for repairs that where never paid for.
it's kind of a pain, lots of paperwork and usually takes a couple months, but he/she can eventually get a lien title to the unit, and then sell it to you.
Being an import not sold in the states this might not work because it has to be approved by the epa. that's why they aren't readily available. but give it a shot with a lien sale.. better than doing nothing, maybe the vin #'s will slip past the dmv.
