Suzuki Boulevard C50 Trike

First of all let me say, Hello. I'm new here and new in the area of motorcycles. I have always wanted one but just haven't been able to get one. I have been looking at Suzuki's Boulevard C50 with the Lehman Trike Conversion. Is there anyone that can answer a few questions that I have about the subject ?

Thank you for your time.

Thanks.
Has your 05 Boulevard been pretty reliable ?
Have you had any problems with it ?

I'm probably getting to old for cycles, but I went to a bike show last year in Martinsburg and I ALL MOST bought the 05 Boulevard C50 with Lehman's Trike conversion. It was brand new, black, and pretty. I was hoping to read some feed backs on Suzuki's and there conversions. So far I haven't seen anything but I'm still surfing around on this forum.

I thinking about the Suzuki Bouvelard c50 Conversion as pleasure riding and maybe a few trips here and there. But I'm looking at whatever I get to last me for a long time.

If someone could throw me some thoughts on it, it would be appreiated.

Thanks.

I like my 05 C-50 bike. I've got a little over 3000 miles on it, I average a hair over 50MPG and have had no problems with it. I added saddle bags, other then that, its in stock form. It was my first bike, and it is the only bike I've ridden, I think it handles great and rides great on the highway ... most of the 3000 miles have been driving from Baltimore MD to Arlington VA for work.... it makes the comute fun :bluethum: I'm happy with my purchase.

I bought my C50 in August last year and have just under 3000 miles, I love the way it handles, I put on the OEM windshield, saddlegabs, driver and passenger backrests, and a tank divider. It's a comfortable fit for me and I haven't had any mechanical issues other than the ignition wire recall which was promptly handled. I don't know about the trike conversion, I have seen it, just wasn't what I was looking for in a motorcycle.

Tis
How old is too old.
I am 65 and enjoying my C50, seems to me some in their 70's are still riding. There are lots of trike conversions around, the C50 is a good bike and will hold up well. I seem to remember someone who had a C50 trike for sale awhile ago. It may have been E-bay or Cycletrader.com.

I am not sure if we have a trike rider here but maybe in VolusiaRiders.com.

My neighbor just bought that trike for $11k on Ebay. He has a bad leg and loves it. Of course he has only had it a week and would rather have a GW trike but GW's are 25K and up.. So as with Suzuki in general..inexpensive, but functional.

Thanks for the post on Suzuki Boulevard and answers to my trike questions.

Blackie1491 , dang, I guess I'm not to old after all. I'm 55 and looking for my first bike-trike.

Lehman Trike Rep. was at a show in Martinsburg,WV and I got a chance to find some more info. Lehman and Suzuki have been working together to create a turn key new trike, which this year is the Bouvelard C-50 Tramp.
I really like it and for trike prices, that's not bad for a brand new trike.

Since I've read these post on Suzuki, and it seems all in all it's a pretty realible bike, I am thinking more of purchasing it.

Thanks alot for everyones input.

I just think that a 800cc is too small for a trike.
I would also want something that had a 6-speed trans in it.

I'm over 50 and I just bought my 2nd bike. The first one I bought in 1978.

last year while on a business trip, I met a woman driving a Volusia with a trike conversion. The Volusia is what the C50 was called, before it was called the C50. I don't remember which conversion it was, and she had ridden the bike on 2 wheels for while before having it converted.

She had just driven up to Niagara Falls, NY from Kentucky -- no small ride -- as was on her way to Vermont. She had nothing but good things to say about her ride. Ya kinda have to get used to steering, rather than leaning, and with three wheels theres a better chance of hitting the pot holes. But it came right up the interstate without any trouble. I know the C50 motor makes plenty of power.

As expected, gas mileage suffered a bit. She clams it got between 35-45, depending on the road, speed, and all that.

Hummm.... I'm sure a C50 would work OK, but I still think that a C90 would be better engine choose, plus you get two disc brakes and tubeless tire up front.

Just bought this one a couple weeks ago---FUN FUN FUN

c50 is a great bike. but the m is better :) but does either have enough power to be a trike? thats a lot of extra wieght to haul around...

Personally, I would go with the C90 Lehmen if I had to choose. I'm sure they are both nice and fun to ride. My thoughts; the C50 would probably be good for around town, ridding solo, etc. However, if cruising the long highway runs, especially 2-up, it would seem that the C90 would do you better. I’m basing this on my own C50 and C90 experiences. I would think that the added weight of the trike would call for even more power. In the end, your choice, your $$$. Just my 2-cents worth...

My wife and I each have our own C50 Lehman trikes. Both of us had physical problems that caused us to doubt our abilities to hold up our C50T bikes in the event an emergency happened. We love our trikes. We put the Bully on them and it really made a difference. We haul 40-50 lbs of luggage and have made trips to the Colorado Rockies (1700 mile rt) and down to big bend, Texas (1400 miles rt). It doesn't take a real steep roadway to make them sag a bit before downshifting, but the Bully pulls it right along. This is a great way to keep riding, after all it is a C50, the best damned bike on the road as to as maintenance, reliability, and ruggedness as far I am concerned. Granted the C90 would feel better with so much more power, but don't be too leery about the Tramp. The only negative is the Lehman people. They are arrogant, unresponsive, and couldn't care less about helping the individual owner. It is all for the dealer. Don't let 'em fool ya, they are worthless.

You may be a bit harsh, but I had a very similar experience early on when I first developed the GTank for the C90 Lehman Jackal. They didn't want me using their name in the title or else.......
