WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — At least one person was taken to the hospital and a suspect is in custody following a shooting at Carver High School on Friday afternoon.
Officers responded to the school around 2:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting.
School officials said one victim sustained a non-life threatening injury. The victim was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
Winston-Salem-Forsyth County Schools spokesman Theo Helm confirmed to WGHP “the suspect is in custody.”

The school will be let out at regular time. Buses will run on a normal schedule. Parents can pick up kids at Russell Recreation Center.
A news conference is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The high school of 700 students is is located at 3545 Carver School Road in northeast Winston-Salem.
The school’s game against RJ Reynolds that was scheduled for tonight has been postponed.
