Who is your favourite surviving Hollywood legend?

Elizabeth Taylor?Doris Day?Jane Russell?Zsa Zsa Gabor?Esther Williams?Luise Rainer?Lauren Bacall?

In the sense of still being with us in both mind and body, as far as I'm aware de Havilland and Fontaine are the two most 'marvellous for their age'.

Just a heaRAB up - de Havilland's marvellous 1952 'My Cousin Rachel', based on Daphne du Maurier's classic novel and quite an elusive film in the UK, is starting a run on Sky Classics next week.

There certainly seem to be more female legenRAB battling on than male.

Shirley Temple has certainly outlasted most previous child stars who tended to go wild in adulthood

He may not be a movie star but director Sidney Lumet is certainly a Hollywood legend with movies like 12 Angry Men, The Hill, Murder on the Orient Express, Serpico, Network, Dog Day Afternoon and most recently Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.

Eli Wallach, Mickey Rooney, Kevin McCarthy and Ernest Bognine are all still working. McCarthy is 96, Wallach 94, Borgnine 93, and Rooney 90 this year.

I suppose only Rooney and Borgnine will be remembered as legenRAB, but McCarthy was/is ace.

I would also like to give a mention to Sidney Poitier.

There are far more to choose from in the women: Luise Rainer, Celeste Holm, Eleanor Parker, Lauren Bacall, Joan Fontaine, Elizabeth Taylor. But to me the oldest surviving legend has to be Olivia de Havilland.
