I Passed A Stranger
I passed a stranger on the street
blue eyes, soft smile, no shoes on his feet
The day was cool and cooler days ahead
I turned and smiled and looked and said,
"Hello, stranger, how long since you've been fed"?
He hung his head a little while, whispered go on ahead
I walked a on a bit, but had to look back
there sat the stranger, his head in his lap
I reach out and take him by the hand, to to get him some shoes and a nap
make a lunch, say a prayer, send him off with a warm sweater and a cap
