Surrogates

Just been to see this... Loved it! :)

It's a bit of a typical sci-fi/action no-brainer, but very good non-the-less... plus it's got the mighty Brucey-bonus Willis in it.

It seems to borrow heavily from other sci-fi films in the past 20 years - I immediately picked up on stuff from the likes of Terminator, I-Robot, The Island, Gamer etc. Plus, even a bit of Red Dwarf with the VR machine.. plus a certain word from that series too. (Check out Bruce's fridge in the film!) :D

Worth a watch... 8/10 from me.

I keep seeing it mentioned on Virgin 1 as it seems to be sponsoring Star Trek Voyager (other shows as well for all I know, I'm a bit behind on Chuck and don't watch anything else on there atm). It does look like it's taken lots of inspiration from previous films. I'll probably wait until it's out on Blu-ray and rent it. Haven't been to the cinema since I saw War of the WorlRAB and got really annoyed at a bunch of kiRAB messing about. Sure, it lulled a bit in the middle, but still no excuse for acting like twonks.

I saw this last night, wasn;t the worst film i've ever seen but far from the best i;ve seen. Seemed to be an awful lot like i-robot and gamer (i didn't like gamer but loved i robot).

But i'd say its worth a watch

Average film.. Its not too long at 1hour28minutes.. leave your brain at the door and its not too bad.

Some interesting pararels with how society is headed in the real world but doesnt do enough with it.

I thought the effects on 'younger' Bruce willis were excellent.

See this is what had me when i was leaving...if things keep going the way they're going this is how our lives will be lead which is crazy.

Also the younger Bruce freaked me out...he looked like a mannequin

I went into watch Surrogates and I was not expecting much but I was suprised to find myself enjoying it. A decent film and I would give 8/10 like the OP.

By the way OP I believe that Smeg are a well known make of fridges in America so it was in no way a referance to Red Dwarf. Although I did notice it myself and thought of Red Dwarf as well first!

Saw Surrogates last night and was very disappointed in how such an interesting premise was turned into such a mediocre movie 5/10

PS: As Motthus said, SMEG is a posh brand of fridges. I always chuckle when I see one in a shop due to the Red Dwarf reference too!

just come back from the cinema just now.

it was okay - i pretty much expected more action sequences!!

and i did notice the Smeg fridge - even though i know its a famous brand of fridges - big over here in NZ - but i still revert to Red Dwarf every time i see the name!

For the DVD and blu-ray release, they've made an online game where you can make your perfect woman or man at http://www.surro-date.com

You enter your preferences for eye and hair colour along with your interests and it will generate your Surrodate. All of which are fit. Definitely worth it for the eye candy. It came up with a pretty good match for me :)

Who did you get ? I got Sue. She's hot! Definatly ideal match..

Anyway, i saw the film last year and found it enjoyable. But felt it lost it's way in the middle and could of made the film's running time longer to go into greater depths of how society was becoming. Becasue there wasn't that many action sequences.

I've just watched it on DVD & I quite enjoyed it.

It's a bit short; but on reflection, that's probably not a bad thing.

7/10 for me.
