Surimi ideas

Two pounds of crab flake surimi for 7 bucks. Not a bad deal and I have had
a hankering for something seaood. OK, now what to do with it? So far all I
have come up with is faux crab salad.

I eat it cold with very strong cocktail sauce (ketchup and prepared

It might make a good soft taco with pico de gallo -- I don't know
whether corn or wheat tortillas would work better.

I don't know if you get into sushi or not, but you could use it in
many, many different flavors of hakozushi and oshizushi. The designs
you can make are endless and the flavors can be anything you prefer to
accompany the surimi.

Sure! A cat will eat fillet mignon or caviar also, if you wish to feed
it that. When I eat caviar, my cat-friend "Dinky" has a taste with me!

He's a 13 year old Persian who thinks he's my human family member. :)

He's an incredible "watch-cat". He can see the entire acre from the
windows and often will run from one window to another room's window to
continue watching a wild animal that has turned the corner of the
house outside. He runs to me if anything really interesting happens
and he has a meow that is specific to that occurrence. I always get up
to look and it's usually either something like a big limb that has
fallen or a unusual wild animal. He does this when people show up at
the gate, even before they have pushed the "call" button. He's
starting to show his age. I hope he stays with me as long as our last
friend "Bammers" who died recently after reaching the ripe old age of
19.

Good old Tuna a la King, but with surimi instead of tuna, in puff
pastry shells or over good biscuits. Include a bit of sherry and a
pinch of Old Bay (seafood boil). A good low-brow fit to fake
crabmeat :-) but darned tasty and a quick dinner from the freezer/
pantry.

Seafood crepes would be nice with surimi. You'd need a tasty white sauce
on top.

Actually, I love a good surimi salad made with lots of fresh celery and
a good homemade mayo.

Surimi seems commonly available at supermarket salad bars around here
and I often use some as the protein component of a salad. Cocktail
sauce, Catalina dressing and even Tartar sauce seem to go well.
