My husband wants to consult with surgeons for his back. He has an L4/L5 herniation and degeneration. He had a laminectomy 10 years ago. Obviously it was not a success because the only thing that helps him now is heavy pain management. He is

Hi,
I'm also in S. Florida (Boca Raton) and about 2 weeks post-fusion of L4/L5, L5/S1 with hardware. Also had repair of sciatic nerve. So far surgery has gone much better than I expected, although the nerve pain was terrible the first week.

I see Dr. Barth Green in Miami, who is about the best you can see down here, but probably not who you would see if your DH's case is simple and straightforward because it is very difficult to get in to see him. But if his case is at all complicated I would recommend going through the hassle.

I do know two other people who have had more straightforward back surgeries down here, one with a doctor in Wellington and another with a doctor in Fort Lauderdale. I don't remeraber the doctors names off the top of my head, but could probably get them if you are still interested. Both seemed to be pretty happy with the outcome of their surgeries.

oooh... thanks PittyPatty! You're case does sound more complicated, but it might be worth a shot for us. We also got a reference to Dr Michael Wang in Miami... he's also very selective.

I do recall seeing a doctor in Wellington on the news a couple of years ago. His name escapes me now, but I'm sure I can find him somehow. If you can remeraber his name and the one in Ft Lauderdale, that would be great.

Thank you for taking the time and helping me. I wish the best for you in your recovery. Sending GOOD VIBES your way....

Hi Jennifer. I didn't forget you - I'm just slow. The doctor that has done surgery on 2 people at my office is:
Mark Waeltz at the Center for Bone and Joint Surgery in Wellington.

Both were very happy with their surgeries, but maybe not so much with the beRABide manner, which seems to be very common.

The other doctor is Matthew Moore in Fort Lauderdale. One person at the office used this doctor.
