Surf's Up Talkback

Why isn't there a talkback for Surf's Up yet?

Anyhoo, I watched the movie on its opening weekend, and let me just say it's a really good movie. It's not great by any means, but it's just nice, mainly because it's different. Doing the film in the style of a documentary gave it a unique feel and kept it from feeling like another run-of-the-mill talking animal CGI movie. Also I have the strange feeling that the movie was meant to train people to animate realistic water, because it looked great!
Unfortunately this movie opened in 4th place, which is a shame because it looks much better than Open Season. I guess people are really sick and tired of penguins. And this movie looks a lot better than Happy Feet as well.

I rate this movie a B/B+

Yeah, I saw it, and liked it. Mostly because of how the dialogue flowed, almost like it was all ad-libbed. The cast were all in the same booth when they recorded their lines so that had to have helped.

I absolutely loved this movie! The documentary style it was made in, really added something different. It was also pretty funny and I'm really glad I went to see it.

They had some nifty camera animation technique to get a realistic handheld camera look, and I was really impressed.

Just got back from seeing it, it was great! Loved the animation, the story... the documentary feel... the animation...

I'd say visually it was on par with Pixar. Everything from the visuals to the story was improved over Open Season which I liked but the story was unoriginal (I kept getting deja-vu from Over the Hedge in that one...which I actually liked less then Open Season but still...).

This thing makes Shrek 3 look like crap... both story wise and visually (I didn't care for the animation in Shrek 3, especially the humans)...

I can't wait to see what Sony Animation will do next.

I am so glad that this movie is being recieved warmly (near as I can tell). I hope get to see it soon.

Someone at IMDB said this movie was supposed to be based on some surfing documentary. I hope that's true, for some reason, I find that amusing on so many levels.
