Surely this is a crime amongst film lovers

city of god is a good film. however the transformers is not, and nor is a lot of stuff that holywood has recently produced... during the early 80s holywood realised they could make a mint via merchandising by producing action films with little story, plot or characterisation and its still suffers from this.... even toto has a better personality than optimus prime!

I though Alice was poor and Burton hasn't made a good film in a long time, as for Depp he is the worse thing in it along with the actress playing Alice.

I do like the 1939 film of The Wizard of Oz and yet I would love to see another film made of the origional story. Although I've not read it myself I have heard that L Frank Baum's origional story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is quite different from the musical - including the small fact that Dorathy's ruby slippers were in fact made of glass in the novel.

After seeing 'Alice in Wonderland' the other day, it would be great to see Tim Burton produce the film, without it being a musical of course ;)

On the subject of "remakes", I would love to see Gone with the Wind being made as a TV drama. Although the film was very long, it missed out some interesting parts of the book, including the fact that Scarlett had 2 other children by 2 different men!

The slippers were just "the silver shoes" in the books, FYI. :)

I've read a few of the books and they are very different to the musical. I'd love to see Hollywood try and do a The Wizard of Oz adaptation which captures the spirit of the novels more but I lost faith in the mainstream movie industry a long time ago and don't think it could handle such an undertaking.

So the very idea of a WoZ remake has me cringing. :(
