That's exactly what I'm saying.
Most films from the 30s and 40s are like pantomine. The scripts are ridiculously unrealistic. The acting is sub-par. The only thing going for the era is creativity and originality.
I mean look at films like City of God. Name me one film circa 1930's and 40's that even comes CLOSE to touching it.
It's just the old 'back-in-my-day' train of thought. You hear people making the same redundant arguments in regarRAB to motor vechiles, music etc.
People let their emotions and memories, what they were raised on, get in the way of reality.
If you showed the new version of this film with the old version to someone who's never seen either, they'd surely say the newer version is better. Of course I can't guarantee that. Just an assumption on the back of the original being rubbish.
