A friend gave me an old aquarium heater called the Supreme Heetmaster mod II, made by Penn Plax. He doesn't have the box or instruction booklet anymore. Does anyone know how to adjust it? It has a dial with numbers on it, and I set it to 2. It goes from 1-8, but I don't know what the numbers determine. I'm currently testing it to see if it will automatically stop at a certain temperature, but so far it's at 80 degrees and still running. I put my betta in a cup, just in case it overheats.
The only other heater I can find in stores is set to go up to 78 degrees, but it's not adjustable. It just tells you when it's heating and when it's done. Would that be a better choice?
Oh, and how can I tell how many watts it is, or how many gallons it's fit for? My tank is 5 gallons.
