what if i buy a 2008 Pontiac will i have a hard time trying to get it fix if it breaks because part are not going to be getting made and as far as resale value would it have any.

I can give you an example. Oldsmobile went out several years ago. I can still get parts with no problem and the resale is not much different from a Chevy or Pontiac of the same year and style. The only exception may be something a bit different like the Solstice or a G8 GT. Those may be a collectible.

For many years, almost all GM vehicle parts have been interchangeable. (Except that a nut and bolt for a Chevy sold very cheap but the identical nut and bolt went for a high price if somebody was buying for a Caddie.)

Resale? That is anybody's guess. The public is fickle.
In 1965, you could not give away an Edsel. Now they command a lot of $$$.

Pontiac is going to be shut down but GM (Pontiac's parent company) is still going to be around. If you buy a Pontiac, you can get it serviced at any GM dealership (Chevy Buick GMC Cadillac) and they will honor the warranty. Most of the parts in modern Pontiacs are shared with other GM vehicles so parts will not be a problem.

It would still have decent resale value. I do not think it will decrease the resale. To be sure, check kbb.com for their projection of resale value.

Pontiac is not going out of business. GM is discontinuing the pontiac line. all of the mechanical parts for pontiac are interchangeable with many other GM cars. They just have different sheet metal.
You will still be able to get any part that the car may need it will not be a problem.
