Stolen from the disney thread:

Ok, I'm sure we all have a villan or one main character that make a cartoon for us.

my list:
Jack Spicer: I can safely say hes the reason there was a large majority of Xiaolin showdown Fans. He's what got me hooked on th show.

Yes, Jack Spicer, totally. He's more popular than the show itself.

Cheese also got an insane amount of popularity. I don't think he's one of the reasons why fans tune in though.

Here's the best villains that steal the show:

Megatron(All Transformers series) - All of his different designs:p are the best for the show especially his Animated design which was awesome.
Shredder,Krang,Rocksteady,& Bebop(TMNT) - They were always the best for many TMNT fans before when they were banished to Dimension X.
Daffy Duck,Yosemate Sam(Looney Tunes) - They were foul-tempered,crazy, & the best for the show with those two having vengeance for Bugs Bunny and they both fell for the exploding piano/xyrophone trick,so funny.
Sideshow Bob,Cecil(Simpsons) - He's so popular for his episodes which he's the reason for watching the show with his vengeance towards the Simpsons family & his son is cute, but crazy. His brother was great for only 2 episode appearances.
Sharky the Sharkdog(Eek! the Cat) - To me, he's funny/popular for the show for always chasing Eek & other characters.
Cyril Sneer(The Raccoons) - He's the best for being an evil industrialist bashing his 3 pigs(I love them), but they gave him a soft side.
Taurus Bulba,Negaduck,Megavolt,Steelbeak(Darkwing Duck) - Those supervillains were pretty popular for many DWD fans along with the Saturday morning seasons.
King Koopa/Bowser(SuperMario Bros.) - He was so popular for many SMB fans for his cartoon/game versions which he's the reason what got me into the SMB franchise & even the Mario comics.
The Red Guy(Cow & Chicken) - He's pretty popular & hilarious for his many butt antics & disguises.
Dr.Drakken & Shego(Kim Possible) - Those two had awesome chemistry which they were so popular & played a cool role in the big finale on saving the world.
Aku(Samurai Jack) - He's the reason which made me love the show which he's awesome, truly evil/sadistic & I love his cool design & motives.
Invader ZIM & GIR(Invader ZIM) - They're so popular for the show which got me hooked to it since they're so hilarious together before conquering Earth.
Utrom/Demon Shredder,Sh'Okanabo(TMNT2003/FF) - To me, they were the ultimate supreme evil & the most awesome which made me love the new TMNT series along with their cool defeats.
The Mooninites(ATHF) - Those two aliens are so popular which they're hilarious together as much as I love Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Dr.Wasabi(Chop Socky Chooks) - He's funny & interesting along with his primate minions which they mostly steal the show.
Team Rocket(Pokemon) - They're the most popular for the show for their Pokemon catching on every episode, but they have their nice moments/character development at times.
Etemon,Dark Masters,Arukenimon & Mummymon,Cherubimon(Digimon) - Those villains were pretty cool & interesting when they get the DigiDestined, but silly villains like Etemon,Puppetmon & Mummymon were entertaining as well.
King Dedede & Escargoon(Kirby:RBAY) - Those two are the best & funny for the game/series for sending monsters which what got me loving Kirby for the 1st place.
Sieghart,King Gale(Rave Master) - Those two were the coolest villains which Sieghart had good development on wanting to kill Elie & then protect her & King was interesting who was powerful, but had a soft spot for Haru's dad in his defeat.
Marda B.(Battle B-Daman) - To me, he's the best for the show for his motives on brainwashing & creating organizations and I love scary eyeball villains:D.
Kaori Sakiyama(Air Master) - As a big fan of the show, she's the best of the vengeance-loving female rivals who comes back for more.
Captain Aizen(Bleach) - He's so popular, but the best villain for being the evil intelligent mastermind behind the Soul Society arc on Rukia's execution.
Dr.Z. & the Alpha Gang(Dinosaur King) - They're the best for the show which they're so hilarious together on catching the dinosaurs.
Light Yagami(Death Note) - He's pretty popular but anime's best villain of all time who's an intelligent psychopath brat with a God complex obtaining a magicial notebook for killing people and has Misa & Mikami(who rock) to worship him.

I agree about Sideshow Bob and don't forget his brother Cecil. Too bad he didn't had a big cameo in the movie.

The Daltons (from the Franco-Belgian comic strip Lucky Luke): they maneged to give a run for his money to Lucky Luke with big challenges despite Averell Dalton's clumsiness.

Will E Coyote: He appeared first in a short Bugs Bunny toon before he decide to chase after the Road Runner. After the numerous times he was injuried by explosions or falling off the cliff, you have some pity and emphaty for him.

Norm the Genie: (Fairly Oddparents) his cynical attitude and sense of humor, he should had appeared more often or they should give him a spin-off series. (And there also another good vilain in FOP, Miss Doombringer who should desserve another cameo appearance)

The Green Goblin: (1967 Spider-man toon) They menaged to give him a good campy side who's reminds me a bit of the Joker in the 1966 Batman series.

Hydargos (Blackie): (Goldorak/UFO Robot Grendizer) A Vegan general who wanted all the glory for himself to get rid of Actarus (Duke Fleed) and his robot Goldorak (Grendizer). He killed a Vegan captain bodyguard who almost win against Goldorak because he doesn't want to be humiliated and he died facing his fate at the conclusion of episode 27, here a short clip from the French dub http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KyVlHhvCMg&hl=fr

Infinita: (Rocket Robin Hood), he stealed the show from the other main vilains Prince John and the Sheriff of NOTT in a cameo appearance in the more psychedelic episode of RRH "Dementia Five". And Ralph Bakshi who supervised the last season of Rocket Robin Hood, recycled this vilain for a Spider-man episode (Revolt in the Fifth Dimension)

Cyril Sneer: (the Raccoons) he's more then a one-dimmensionnal character when we see the way he treats the Raccoons, his henchmen the Pigs and his son Cedric. Even if they softened him in the last seasons, Cyril's angers was part of his "charism".

Pokemon: Have to agree about Team Rocket from Pokemon. I find Jessie, James and Meowth's antics very amusing, and they even have interesting character development. I also find Giovanni to be a cool villain whenever he rarely appears.

Naruto: The Akatuski and Orochimaru from Naruto also steal the show.
Although, I have one particular mention from Naruto, though,....Sasuke. Maybe he's not exactly a villain, more like an anti-hero, but he's still a supporting castmember and he definitely steals the show, to the extent where large portions of the story are centered around him as opposed to Naruto.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: Pegasus is just campy, yet very entertaining. Bakura and Marik both just seem cool and have interesting character developments.

The Brak Show/Space Ghost C2C/Cartoon Planet: Zorak is just so evil, yet hilarious.

It does say supporting casts as well, but the reason for someone picking Daffy is because he's a spotlight hog and is jealous of the other characters being more popular than him, especially Bugs.

Me too. I think that character deserved his own spin-off show. :p

Anyway one of bad guys I can think of that stole the show is Kevin 11 from Ben 10. I mean I really prefer Kevin 11 over the bratty 10 year old Ben 10 and Kevin being on the Alien Force spin-off proved his popularity. ;)

Zuko and Iroh seems to be favored over the main protagonists in Avatar The Last Airbender. Heck, some have said that the plots involving Zuko were more interesting than the A plots.

I agree with a lot of these especially:

Team Rocket (Pokemon)
Sideshow Bob (The Simpsons)
Cyril Sneel (The Racoons)

Those not mention that I want to add:

Mr. Crocker (Fairly Odd Parents)
Myotismon (Digimon) (the grestest Digimon villain of all time in my opinion)
Beastly (Care Bears) (really didn't steal the show, he was the show because the Care Bears themselfs were boring)

But since this is also supporting cast, some non villains on my list:

Action Kamen (Crayon Shin Chan)
Quadmyer (Family Guy)

I definitely agree with Team Rocket from Pokemon. Not only do they bring in some good laughs and gags during the episodes, but they also have pretty good character development. I'm not surprised that many people tune in just for Team Rocket since they can be pretty funny, even though I also like the other main characters as well for their growth and development.

Zuko and Iroh wins hands down in Avatar. Iroh seems like such a caring and wise uncle, while being amazingly strong, thus becoming awesome. Zuko is actually my favorite character partly because of all of the inner struggles he has to deal with, especially during the last couple of seasons. The twists and turns that Zuko goes through seem to be as suspenseful, or even more so, than the general plots with Aang and his friends.

Frisky Dingo: Honestly, it's hard to tell who's the real villain of this show. Sure, Killface is out to destroy the world, but in some ways, he's more likable than the so-called hero, Xander Crews.
