Hey Dal,

Here's my .02$

a) I would prefer it be a "track only" bike and not be street legal.

b) Being the previous Supermono was 549cc and the rules allow 850cc, I'd sacrafice cc's for reliability and would like to see something like a 649cc engine.

c) As far as racing, I would use it for track days and I'm not sure there's a class here in the U.S. that would support it. Maybe a Superstock class?
http://www.wera.com/rulebook/?x=1098#ch9

d) Standard features: Modern frame, Ohlins suspension & steering damper, Brembo brakes, adjustable rearsets w/option for GP shift, forged wheels w/race tires, FULL Termi race exhaust, and price.. $15,000+

1/2 of a 1198. Front cylnder gone, and used as the ballencer, rear cylender still tiped back, reverse exahust, front intake, as sien on the 2010 YZF 450 for "mass centralission"

I would Race it here. http://www.ahrma.org/Road_Racing_Modern.htm

thats pretty cool stimy i didnt realize thumper racing was so popular in the us. would you mind going into further detail about what you would like from your supermono, im interested in what you would have to say about this

I race my 1098 in the F1 class already. What a blast. A frend races his CR500 in the SOS class and hauls ass on it. Anouther has a XR600 motor in a GSXR chass. Cheep way to go racing, and fun as hell.

The Super Mono would almost be like cheating, so ofcorse I would have to have one.

if ducati offered a one off series for the supermono, similar to what suzuki did with the gsxr 750 as part of a package deal for buyers would that motivate you to buy.

dal, I reckon you've got keep it accessible to the masses, and the only way to do that is through keeping the cost down. Remember you're asking a bunch of dudes here that have expensive and exotic taste. If you're designing something that you want to be successful commercially to a wider audience, then you have to factor cost into the equation. What about something modular that you can build to a basic spec, or build up to a more exotic spec, but both starting with a basic chassis package? Are you going to be using an existing mass produced motor or designing one from the ground up?

A new 450 MXer is next to $8000. Like the 1st mono, I would not pay more than $10,000 for a 600 single for track only. Honda sells one already, and I wont pay what they want. 2 times the cost of a new CBR600.

very good point soz, and one that i have been giving a lot of thought to, currently i am thinking of three different models and have been drawing up two, the first two are based on a liquid cooled single derived from the 1198, the third is a entry level air cooled single that would be of lower displacement, this one i will go into further research of when finished withthe first project. as for the liquid cooled i am thinking of three different pacages actually base, S, and R models, the base and s will be street legal bikes with R options available, such as factory race fairings and race exhaust, etc, if you and anyone would have suggestions or criticisms about this please let me know, I prefer working in this manner, and dont hesitate to be harsh.
