Superman V

Don't know if this has already been mentioned, but its seems that Warner Brothers are fast tracking Superman V for a Summer 2004 release!!

Bret Ratner is directing, and they're trying to get Anthony Hopkins to play Jor-El.
Also Ratner was looking for a British unknown actor to play the man of steel.

Also, Batman v Superman has also been given the green light and is set for a release in 2005/6 :D

It won't be 'Superman V', the new film is part of an original trilogy written by the guy behind 'Alias' (J.J. Abrhams I think) and is completely unrelated to the previous four movies. The first draft of the script took quite a hammering on aintitcool.com, new age mysticism nonsense, Lex Luthor as a Government black ops agent and also a Kryptonian, but has since been revised.

Another reason not to get too excited about this project is Warner Brothers strange requests throughout its very long gestation period, including, for bugetary reasons, no scenes of Superman flying . The subsequent success of other superhero movies will mean that the budget for this will be considerably hiked but there is a long way to go before this promises to be anything other than a missed oppertunity.

That guy from Sliders (That was in that Kangaroo Jack film) has confirmed he is in running for Superman.

Superman will fly. a CGI Superman flying around is relatively cheaply done.

Nah, Superman Lives was the Kevin Smith treatment that has since been junked.

If your really interested in this film go here: Superhero Hype.

It's all up in the air at the moment, fights over the script, director, casting etc. and nothing substantial as yet.

The other problem seems to be getting somone to sign on for 6 to 10 years, covering the Superman Trilogy and the possibility of the same actor appearing in the 'Batman V's Superman' and 'Superman: Year One' movies that Warners have in pre-production
