Superman Returns

It's not that bad . It's just disappointing and rather downbeat.

If I compared it to recent superhero flicks - I'd say it's nowhere near as good as the Spiderman movies, X-Men 2, Batman Begins or Unbreakable (which, whilst not based on a comic book is basically a comic book film).

It's about equal to the other two X-Men pictures, better than Hulk and way, way better than Fantastic Four.

And I can't really remember Daredevil. I don't remember it being as bad as many people make it out to be.

I saw a preview of Superman Returns this morning - LOVED it!

The plane sequence is awesome and very exciting!

Very happy with Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and the rest of the cast.

As superheroes go, Superman was never one of my favourites, but Bryan Singer has managed to make a wonderful movie that brings out the very best of the character and the mythology.

And once you hear that music ....

Im stunned.

Truly I am.

UNBREAKABLE? UN-FLIPPING-BREAKABLE?????????

OMFG! Are you gonna jump out of a cake and yell SURPRISE!!!!!!!!

This has the amount of 0 got to do with my love for Superman Returns but Unbreakable has to be up there with Hulk as one of the worst things I have ever seen at the cinema! I cant think of 1 thing I could praise Unbreakable for apart from it ended (THANK GOD!!!) So WOW we all know you hate Superman Returns then! :D

Batman Begins was ok but spent a lot of time being boring and not really doing anything terribly interesting XMEN2 was ok not great but ok. XMEN1 sucked and wasnt anything inspiring but Id like to see 3 to see what the fuss is about!

I do like the Spiderman films but Ill wait for the next Superman movie till it confirms its place as my fave Superhero set of movies ever.

I actually quite liked Daredevil a really weird Superhero movie though!

*Please dont take my comments about you as serious they are intended as tongue in cheek!

I've already seen it.

Very excellent film, well worth the wait.

For some people, the ending will probably be the most touching. Altho the scene lasts 10 mins, it seems like 30 mins.

Those who have seen it will know.

Then either type:

(Without the spaces in the spoiler tags.)

Or press the light grey S and it will ask you to enter what you want in the spoiler.

Then best to preview post before you post it, or if you do post it and it has mistakes in, please don't do what others do and post and run, that is posting and not checking for errors and leaving the post a mess.

I had a feelling something like that was gonna pop up BUT form the horror stories I was hearing it was that practically nobody was going to see it so it isnt as bad as I thought.

I see what you mean about being a bit of a joke in Hollywood because I was looking at a lot of pre release interviews and there was a hell of a lot of ass kissing going on (but Letterman delievered an awful interview IMO it was car crash like) but now a lot of attitudes seem to be different its like getting off the titanic before it sinks and making sure you help put it down.

Batman was a good movie dont get me wrong but I found myself bored on more than one occasion but thats obviously not the opinion of the public in general

Ah well not unless I find a couple hundred million dollars I cant do a whole lot!!!!!

I think the film was diabolical. Throughout the whole film, Lois was running around like Rose West with PMT. The special effects were good, but not enough of them (seems like they spent their whole budget on the aeroplane scene). I advise anyone who is going to watch this to wait on it coming out on TV - which should be in about 6 months time! Truly the worst follow-on of a classic ever!

As has already been mentioned before this new movie is set 5 years after Superman 2.

The rumour has it, that because of his powers etc, it may be possible that he would also have super sperm and that could cause problems, sometimes referred to once or twice in Smallville etc.

Now if you can remember back to Superman 2, there is a scene were Superman chooses to give up his powers for Lois etc, so one can assume this is when it took place probably shortly after the Powers had been removed.

However, I can't get my head around properly the fact that the kid is immune to Kryptonite. I can't follow whether it's because it would be an Race-Mix or maybe the Asthma Inhaler does something.

Webster wanted to descimate the coffee crop or something didn't he? As well as having that computer control all the oil - stopping it pumping, and having the tankers at a holding position in the atlantic. I forget why he wanted to do that.

I can't remember neither been a while since 3 was on TV.

Been a longer while since # 4 was shown. I know 4 is suppose to be the least popular but be nice to see it again, at the time I was only a kid IIRC it's been 10 years since it was last on.

Yes, in which case the contentious issue should not be whether or not an alien, with what appears to be a physiology compatible and near-identical to ours, should be able to reproduce, but rather about why he even looks like us. I mean, wouldn't it make more sense if he had 2 sets of telescopic teeth and acid blood? :)

As far as I remember, the explanation of his powers in SR is no more advanced than "he draws his power from the sun". The equivalent explanation for his reproductive abilities would be a quick run-down of the "birRAB and the bees", but even without such unnecessary exposition, his super powers seem a far more implausible proposition than the ability to reproduce, and like I said, in the context of how realistic it is, it doesn't matter if it's explained as having happened in S2 or anywhere else. He's still an alien.

God you are good! I understand what you are saying and I do agree with parts but I cant sum up my feelings/opinions as well as you can!

I know I dont 100% agree but then I dont know what to say!

You win this time..............................................
:)

Given his now somewhat questionable superstar status, perhaps you can do better. Maybe Spidey could be persuaded to go green? :)

I don't remember if the hot dog was for him or just Lois in S2, but there was definitely a roast dinner in the over in S4, but that was so far out of continuety it was barely worth a mention. Either way, Superman has traditionally been a meat eater.

Heh, you sure seem to have selective hearing about what's being said in this movie. :)

I'm surprised how much I liked Jason. I normally hate TV and movie kiRAB.

I really dont mean to sound naive but I honestly avent a clue what Michael Bays Superman vision would have consisted of!!!!! Can you please explain?(Sorry Im such a dunce!!!! :o )

I spose there was lots of things to spend money on but there had to have been a way to make this movie a lil cheaper without loosing to much quality.

CGI Jor El was a nice touch but ultimately not needed IMO!

I have to say I saw this and the best I can say about it was it was....alright, okay, reasonable and all those middle of the road terms.

I wasn't overly excited to see it but willing to give it a go. Certainly not a disaster just nothing to really get excited about. It wasn't as good as the first 2 X-Men, Spiderman 1 and 2 nor Batman Begins. All of those films were entertaining and interesting (BB really surprised me in just how good it was) whilst this was just...there.

I didn't dislike it, just more like a total apathy.
