Superman returns sequel confirmed..

And Bryan Singer is nearly confirmed as director...He best pull something outta the bag fof this cos if its as bad as SR then Im not going to watch another superman movie ever!!!

I have to say I thought Superman Returns was a magnificent movie. Worthy of being sat alongside I and II and a league ahead III and IV.

Just me then?

Okaaaay.

:o

TW was never asked to star in the film at all.
But your second comment I agree with it, in that they would have to stop smallville if he did a superman movie.
This was also mentioned on the kryptonsite website.

A few things (spoilers contained):

The opening credits with Marlon Brandon was the best part of the movie.

Also John Williams original music made the hairs on my arm stand up! Ruddy brilliant!:)

How Supes had problems with a plane, yet later could lift up a piece of land almost as big as the USA, I don't know. Mildly entertaining though.

The rest of the film would have made an excellent addition to a daytime soap.

If Brandon Routh is going to reprise his role he NEERAB to hit the gym*.

*looks like Pee Wee Herman in the suit.

I enjoyed the first one enough, but it wasn't amazing. Didn't like the actress who played Lane though.

I'll see the next one on dvd.

This is fantastic news! I always thought that the first one got a lot of, undeserved, bad reviews. I am not saying it was brilliant. There were some bad points to the film, but I honestly think that Bryan Singer will make all of that better in the sequel.

It's good to hear that this sequel is finally moving ahead after many false starts.

Superman Returns had its moments and it was good to see supes back on the big screen but it was a little po faced and 'talky' (a lot more than the 2003 Hulk movie that universally criticised for that) and there were times when I almost felt like shouting at the screen "stop being so serious, this is a bloody superhero movie". Also, I didnt get why everyone was raving about Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor as he was just basically playing the same panto villian version of the character that Gene Hackman played in the original movies.

I am just hoping that the sequel has Superman up against a new villain (e.g. someone other than general zod, luthor) and one that will actually give him a run for his money.

Just watched SR again on DVD for the 3rd time. Day of work, wife and daughter out all day. FAB!

I cant wait for the sequel and its great news that it has been confirmed. Brandon Routh was excellent, as was kevin Spacey. Kate Boswoth is cute, I quite like her actually, so I wouldnt mind her being recast.

I cant wait for the story line of the kid being Supermans son to be revealed. Blimey!!!

I grew up watching Superman I, II, III and love it!! Bring on the sequel.

This is great news. I loved the original movies, and Superman Returns was a great nod to all that. Brandon Routh's turn as my fave superhero was fantastic, and with Singer promising more action and less homage next time, I think it'll be special indeed.

I'm not much of a superman fan, but i really enjoyed the last movie when i saw it on Sky Movies. Can't wait for the next one, but it's not something i'd go to the cinema to watch.

I enjoyed SR on first viewing, but now I find every time I watch it I get bored, switch off and watch Superman 1 or 2 instead.

To be honest I think they would have been better starting from scratch like they did with Batman Begins, and not try to tie it to a movie series that ended in the 1980s

Fantastic news! I've been worried for ages they were going to pull the plug on a sequel to Returns, one of my favourite comic book films of all time. I can understand why people didn't like it for as they say "not enough action", but possibly thats why I liked it so much.

I liked the old Reeves films, but you never really got the 'wow' of Superman from those like in this one, in my opinion.

I loved Superman Returns but in part I think this was because I was a kid when the original Superman films came out and with this one kind of linking to those films got me excited like a kid again.

However as a film the sequel will need much more action in the form of a threat to Earth in the form of a character Superman can fight.

This would also continue the trend to mirror the first two Christopher Reeve films.

It also neeRAB to resolve what events of the first two Christopher Reeve films it takes as cannon. Did Superman get with Lois and then erase her mind? I think Superman Returns is using this part of history but if this is the case I would like to see how Lois seems to be able to accept the child as Supermans.

As for Brandon Routh I think he did a fantastic job in the role.
