Superman Returns - Official Trailer

agree, they "look" excellent, but if thats as good as the film gets (which I hope it isn't), then SR is going to be crap...really disappointed at the Trailer, nothing exciting at all

Stephen.

I was mostly concerned with how the trailer was put together, and that Spacey didn't seem quite a Luthor'esque as I had hoped he would. If Singer's previous X-Men movies are anything to go by, I think the movie will be less of a "crowd pleaser" compared to Spider-Man, which means more character and less mindless action, which is just fine by me.

Isn't Lois meant to be a big-shot star reporter? with a 5 (or so) year-old son? She only looked to be in her early twenties going by the trailer...where did she find the time? :D

Dear Mr Singer

Today I saw X3. It was a damn fine summer movie that got me going like a bee in a bee hive. :D

No doubt you've been reading all about it in Variety.

Which brings me nicely to your film. I've got to tell you guv... I'm a little worried. Going by the trailer you're treading the same ground as Superman one and two.

Superman is not a best selling comic, but its an icon so it will never be cancelled. X-men is the World's best selling comic (there was a brief period in the 1980's when Frank Miller's Daredevil outsold it.

Aaaanyway, enough history. Your first teaser trailer rocked. But the others....

...look, just make me believe a man can fly. :)

Job

Ironically, both Bosworth and Routh are younger than Welling and Durance who play the teenage Lois & Clark on Smallville. Routh does look quite young compared to Reeve. I always thought Kidder looked like she was in her late 40s, and found her extremely unattractive.

Here is a breif review of Superman Returns from the Dark Horizons website (No Spoilers!)

"Superman is back and the wait for his return is finally over. Was it worth it? Absolutely and in every respect. This is a monumental classic of the genre, a true successor to the Richard Donner classic of the original. This time, audiences will once again believe a man can fly. Director Bryan Singer has crafted a visual tour-de-force, a movie that succeeRAB in balancing eye popping 21st century visuals, with the heart and soul of a story-driven epic.

Brandon Routh is the perfect successor to Chris Reeve, and shows us a character that has both strength and vulnerability, while Kate Bosworth's Lois Lane is beautifully realised. Spacey is pure genus as Lex Luthor and Frank Langella is a wonderful Perry White. This is one Superman for the ages, a soaring, wondrous adventure that will leave audiences breathless, and a truly breathtaking ride of a movie.

In this crowded summer season, the return of the Man of Steel is the perfect summer movie for the child in all of us, and once we hear that classic John Williams score, one is reminded that movies like these are a rarity. Forget the hype, and enjoy the return of one of the most extraordinary comic book characters ever created".

It sounRAB very good and I cant wait for 14th July!

Superman Returns is getting some good first reviews as I read this on the BBC website:

""The first reviews for Superman Returns have given the new movie, which stars newcomer Brandon Routh as the legendary superhero, a resounding thumbs up.
Variety magazine's critic said it was "grandly conceived, sensitively drawn [and] never self-consciously hip".
"It is sincere, with an artistic elegance and a genuine emotional investment in the material," he wrote.
The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, saluted "a heartfelt Superman movie that plays to a broad audience".
Routh, it continued, plays the comic book character "with honesty [and] winning fortitude".
And Newsweek's David Ansen wrote: "From the start of this gorgeously crafted epic, you can feel that Singer has real love and respect for the most foursquare comics superhero of them all.
"Newcomer Routh may or may not be a real actor, but he effortlessly lays claim to the iconic role."
His comments were echoed by Harry Knowles on the Ain't It Cool News website, who described Superman Returns as "the film I was hoping and dreaming for".
"Just as Batman Begins relaunched an ailing Batman, it senRAB Superman into the stratosphere," he wrote.
The film - which stars Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor and Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane - is released in the US on 28 June and in the UK on 14 July.
It is the Man of Steel's first big-screen appearance since 1987's Superman IV: The Quest for Peace starring the late Christopher Reeve.
Singer's previous films have included The Usual Suspects and the first two instalments in the X-Men franchise."

For such an iconic franchise that's been off the big screens for 20 years, that trailer was a bit flat, I'm a tad disapointed...heres hoping it's just the trailer.

Hi all, first posting. Hugely looking forward to Superman Returns, but admit trailer left me worried. CGI FX (particularly when he landed with a thud) were well off. I hope the flying sequences won't all be a whizzy blur. The blood only really stirred when John Williams' classic theme kicked in.

Kare Bosworth IMO is a bad choice for Lois. Erica Durance far more credible.

Roll on July 14th though!

Neither trailer really showed anything. Trailer two looked like Superman Returns is a rehash of Superman & Superman 2 combined with Lois and a kid thrown in as a grand modernising stroke of genius. Lois seemed too weedy and mousy from the little bit we've seen. Superman comes back and is rescuing Lois from Lex Luthor? That's the whole point of the film?

Has anybody seen that they have started to show the trailers for Superman Returns on UK TV!
The hype is slowly building for the UK release!

the new superman looks a bit wimpy...
the trailer just looks like a straight re-make. i thought they were going to do a follow up to superman 2!

It's not a remake. The Clark-as-a-kid parts will presumably just be a few short flashbacks to establish continuety with the original movies and for the benefit of new Superman fans. The movie more or less takes place after Superman II, with Supes apparently having left Earth for a few years, and they probably won't reference the first two movies too much.
