Superman Chosen?

Appartently Bryan Singer has chosen an unknown actor called Brandon Routh to play the man of steel. It seems Singer has stuck to his promise to cast a unknown actor in the role of Superman. There has been no offical confimation yet but it could be confirmed soon.
If he is confirmed as Superman then the question will move onto who will play Lois Lane. My personal choice for her would be Selma Blair but she may not be able to do it as she would be contracted to do Hellboy 2. What does everybody else think about this rumoured casting of Superman?

IT's being rumoured that ZOd & co may return (the bad guys in Superman 2). I'd really like to see other bad guys myself before they bring Zod back.

They're even saying Terence Stamo may reprise his role or take another "unspecified" role in the movie. Also another rumour is that Steve Martin has auditioned for the part of Daily Planet Editor Perry White.

I heard Beyonnce will be playing Louise Lane; at first
I thought it was just a rumour but every tabloid and grape-vine seems to think she is the most likely choice.

From Ain't It Cool:

"...I got to harass the even-cuter-in-real-life, smiley and very pregnant (and shockingly tall!) Amy Acker, who, contrary to rumor, says she has never auditioned to play Lois Lane in the next

shame, she could have been good aswell.

As long as Singer doesn't give the role to mischa barton, beyonce, britney, [insert popstar/wannabe actress here], natalie portman or charisma carpenter i'd be happy.

I wouldn't mind Evangeline Lilly, she seems to be doing well on Lost.

i dont care who gets lois lane as long as it aint some young acrtess like kirsten dunst or keira knigthley. i think this part neeRAB to go to someone a little older.

I have just read on Aintitcool.com a rumour that Shawn Ashmore (Bobby Drake/Iceman in X Men 1/2) is going to be Jimmy Oslen. It seems like the loss of Singer may not be the only thing that X Men lose to Superman!

Looks like this could to be the guy. SSH.com confirm with their source. There is something very bizzare thought Check the age. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0746125/ He's 2 years YOUNGER than Tom Welling (Smallville) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0919991/

Bryan Singer has said the new movie doesn't "tread over the 1978 Richard Donner film, it doesn't tread over Smallville..." So I would have expected them to cast someone slightly older looking, not younger than Tom. I know Superman doesn't really age as such, and Tom has a babyface, but still. Very strange!

There is a website at http://www.brandonrouth.tv/pictures.html but I think it's down due to the number of people eating its bandwidth at the moment I suspect! ;)

It is only a rumour at the moment but it does seem like any actor who has worked with Bryan Singer previously is being linked with Superman like Kevin Spacey and Shawn Ashmore. So what rumour is next then how about Halle Berry as Lois Lane. I hope not as that sounRAB about as bad as Beyonce as Lois lane. I do trust Bryan Singer as a director to choose the right actor or actress for the part!

Everybody has heard the Beyonnce playing Lois Lane and Johnny Depp playing Lex Luther runours before but I dont believe that there is any truth to them as I cant see Bryan Singer going for big names for Lois Lane and Lex Luther as I think he may cast unknowns in their parts or at least not very well known actor or actress!

I trust Brain Singer. He's young and he's talented and I don't believe he'd take the project if he didn't believe in it. I think it says a lot for him to pick a relative unknown. I think Christopher Reeves was an unknown also which is interesting because it's the character of Superman that will be of interest. If he he had picked a known actor then the film would be all about that actor ;rather then the movie being about Superman. If Singer is bold enough to pick an unknown for the lead then who ever he picks to round out the cast will be someone he feels is right for the part not just based on a name. Singer is on a roll right now. He's been getting great reviews for the episodes he directed on Fox televisions "House" and critics love to trash television shows , so he's not going to let up Superman is going to be good.

Brendon Frasier was rumoured to be playing Superman ages ago however the director Bryan Singer confirmed that Brandon Routh will be playing Clark Kent/Superman about a month ago.
Kevin Spacey has comented on the rumours about him playing Lex Luthor by saying that he's been approached but he wouldn't clarify any further. He went on to say that he would love to work with Bryan Singer on anything, the main problem is that he is so busy as Artistic Director of the Old Vic in London he doesn't know how he would fit it into his schedule!

A lot of that was prior to Singer being attached as director though, so I'd say all bets are off at the moment. I do think Depp could do Luthor really well (hell, Depp has been playing pretty much everything really well recently!) Really really don't see Beyonce as Lois though... That sounRAB like some McG casting if ever I heard it! ;) I think Singer will go for a more well know actor (although not 'superstar') for Luthor, and another unknown for Lois.

There are three leading ladies up for the role of Lois Lane in "Superman", they are Kate Bosworth, Elisha Cuthbert and Claire Danes. Apparently Evangeline Lilly was up for the role but she had to pull herself out of the running because of her commitments to T.V series "Lost"!

I just read that in a recent interview with "X-Men 2" star Shawn Ashmore he was asked about the rumours for him in the role of Jimmy Olsen in "Superman" and this is what he said:
"I'm always the last to know about these things, but there's nothing solid, so we're just waiting to see."
Then later they talked to Shawn Ashmore's "Earthsea" co-star Kristin Kreuk, who expressed how happy she is that her co-star is involved in "Superman".

No to Beyonce, and ignoring the fact that Depp is playing everything at the mo, I would say he could do it pretty well! Anyone got any pictures of the guy rumoured to play superman?

Zap2it caught up with Topher Grace and asked him about the Superman rumors:

At a recent press conference, "That '70s Show" star Topher Grace denies that he's been approached to play Clark Kent's pal, wide-eyed Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen. He also sets the record straight about another FOX star who's been rumored to be playing the Man of Steel's sassy love interest Lois Lane.

"I bumped into Mischa Barton and I said, 'Hey, are we in "Superman?'" She said, 'No. We're not,'" he jokes, referring to the "O.C." actress.
