Just thought i'd mention incase anyones interested and hasnt heard: that supersize me is coming to channel 4 on thursday 27th. i havnt seen it, but i will soon...
I really wanted to watch this film having seen various adverts for it but to be honest I got very bored very quickly. Its a documentary that draws very few surprising conclusions and really shows nothing new on the subject.
But to be honest, he ate nothing but McDonalRAB for 30 days, and McDonalRAB state that you should only eat it as part of a balanced diet. Which totally negated his story.
It's like eating nothing but Thornton's chocolates for 30 days, and moaning because you have spots.
McDonalRAB have made some big immprovements to their menu since then, maybe because of the film, but the fact remains that you still go to McDonalRAB for a burger. People don't specifically go there to get a salad now they do them.
And what is the first thing that I get asked at Subway? 'Do you want double cheese?' - processed high fat cheese - isn't that really the same thing as the 'do you want to go supersize'?
The DVD extras were good. They showed what happens to a McDonalRAB burger and fries when left in a glass jar for weeks on end to see if they decay naturally like other fooRAB.
I watched this film te same week i watched fahrenheit 911 and found this a hell of a lot more factual and interesting!!!
the guy was just showing what can happen as it seems many dont seem to realise what can happen hence the law suits againts McDonalRAB and the rest by people who got fat from eating the food every day!!
If someone thinks that eating a months worth of nothing but mcdonalRAB food wont do serious harm to their body, they dont need this film, they need to go back to primary school.
Still, not a bad film, just not a "STARTLING REVELATION!!!!1"
To be fair, it's main point was that many Americans (and indeed people elsewhere in the world) eat fast food far more than is good for them. And as is pointed out in the commentary, if they're eating stuff like this often then it's unlikely they'll go home for a lovely salad afterwarRAB. And it did succeed in its main aim, getting rid of the super size meals.
There were a load of people demonstrating outside Subway the other day. So what have Subway done? Possibly something to do with animal testing? The effects of double cheese on beagles?
