Sunset Boulevard - Re-Make to Star Glenn Close.

A re-make of the 1950 Billy Wilder classic is currently in production. Glenn Close will star. Details very thin on the groud right now, but I'm axcited to see this. It is a big screen version of the recent stage musical (not thrilled about it being in Musical form tbh - not really my 'bag').

Don't think it will better the original (which is as close to perfection as movie's come IMO). Glenn Close is absolutely perfect for the lead role, though.
 
I have the LA Cast recording with Glenn Close and she was fantastic. It's an okay musical (not the world's greatest ALW fan) but I'm pleased to hear that another musical is being transfered to the big screen.

However, there does seem to be huge delays on this, so who knows if it will ever get made.
 
Yes, I gathered from IMDB it has been delayed from the outset. I hope we eventually get to see it - very interested to see a Re-Make of one of my all time favourite movies. I just hope they do Billy Wilder's original masterpiece justice.
 
This has been in the pipeline for yonks. I saw Glenn Close in the role on stage and although she acted the part well I think her singing voice is adequate to put it politely. Patti LuPone in London sang the part so much better and was actually closer to Swanson's arrogance than Close.

Do we really need another musical with actors who sing a bit (just look at the flop that was the film of "Phantom of the Opera" - the world's most successful musical on stage).

Why not give the role to somebody who can sing AND act? Barbra Streisand springs to mind. She's already recorded the main songs from it. There aren't many roles written for the more mature lady but this is one.musical.
