Summer Sports??? Do they exist?

All I wanted to know if there is such thing as a summer sport at middle school, cause my brother said no cause we don't have school during summer. But at school they call Soccer and Track our summer sports.

SO is there a summer sport in school or not, If so caould you name a few?

My school- They have a summer league which ANYONE can play (any age ranging from freshman to graduated seniors of high school) to play against other schools to prepare for the actual season. My teams tryouts/practices start August 15th along with all of the other schools in my area.
But thats only if your in 8th grade going in too HS.

My middle school only had a basketball team which was mid school year.
