Summer 2009 Preview Thread

It's only about a month or so before the Summer 2009 season starts, so I thought I'd go ahead and post this. Here's the link for V1 of the chart (Moetron also lists the series that are scheduled to air under the chart.). As you can tell more series will be added, as well as OVAs, at a later date.

So what shows do you plan on watching? Rate and Explain your choices as you see fit. (I'll post mine in a reply to avoid cluttering.)

I'll try out most of them, and I'm really looking forward to GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class, I've already read the manga prior to the anime (like I did K-On!), which makes me look forward to it even more, plus more Hetalia is never a bad thing, but yeah I'm looking forward to all of them

*looks at avatar* I'm pretty sure I'll watch Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
I'll probably continue Hetalia and the new SHAFT series, Bakemonogatari, looks pretty good.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and CAnaan both take place pretty close to where I live i Tokyo, and in present day. Should be interesting to see if I recognize any of the locations.

The previous show I saw that supposedly took place in Shibuya, "Super Gals" took place in a horribly white-washed, almost 1990's version of shibuya that was neigh unrecognizable.

I'm going to use blog previews to help guide me, but four series look interesting:

Umineko no Naku Koro Ni: Standard mystery plot, but it might be executed very well. This kind of thing seems unusual for animated treatment.Cobra: Rokunin no Yushi: I'm with Speedy, this could be really cool. It could be fun to see how the character reacts to himself, so to speak.Tokyo Magnitude 8.0: A story about people surviving an earthquake doesn't sound that remarkable, but this is a case where characterization could really carry the day. This is also from Bones, so I'm inclined to see what they're up to.Canaan: The description doesn't say much, but if we're lucky it could take after Eden of the East somewhat. In any event this is another one that sounRAB atypical, so it seems worth a chance. And that's really it. I'll be busy with ongoing spring shows, not to mention all of the stuff that is legally streaming for free. But as always I will keep eyes open for anything that really stanRAB out.

Wow. It's amazing how the first two lines of that list looked like awesome shows that I would totally see and then I go down and the last two rows look kind of generic and boring (That Princess Bride one is just screaming Rosario+Vampire)

That GA one looks like the next Lucky Star/K-ON slice of life moe shows to spawn 1000 internet meme's.....of course that probably means I'll give in to internet peer pressure and watch it eventually.

No GONZO this season?

Yeah, I was thinking that but it just doesn't look like a toyetic show to me. Unless of course it is. It sounRAB interesting though.

They're running something like four series right now, and have downsized massively. Maybe in the fall, but they have to pace themselves and make it count. They really can't afford to do many more lame jobs.
