Suggestions Thread (Please read and help)

I'm really happy you girls are taking it in consideration! :D I know that the offline schedules might be a problem,just like the different time zones,but wonder is power so we can figure it out easily :D
 
The people at the Sailor Moon thread did talk about this and we might (can't fully guarantee this yet) do a marathon in Deceraber of said series. Hopefully we can expand this to other series (depending on what we have available on DVD and whatever we can scrounge up on the internets).

Just one small problem other than different time zones: Our offline schedules. Some posters have work, school, and this semester for yours truly has been particularly hectic this time around.

Hopefully we'll be able to organize a group get together. This is one idea that is definitely considering but it's all in the matter of how we'll be able to get together. :)
 
I think it would be a good idea organizing once a week or once every two week a watchalong on this board.
We might choose a cartoon series or even just a movie and watch it all together at the same time and commenting it while watching it.
It's really funny and we would start sorta club of the cartoons board :D
 
I'm not really familiar with the Survivor game, to be honest, so you'll all have to explain. Sometimes game threaRAB of that sort, while others are easy when you're naming stuff, could be difficult given that we're dealing with a little more than 100 years worth of cartoons. I wouldn't mind if we do one show per thread (or however long it could last) but I guess my worry is that not everyone would be familiar with the cartoon. I'm not familiar with all cartoons in existence (would be rather interesting though :lol:). If there's a way for the Survivor thread to work, then go for it.

Online Cartoons: I wouldn't mind expanding on this. So far, there's a Neurotically Yours thread (the one with the Foamy Squirrel cartoons) and the Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged thread. The latter, I know the one who does this does not update frequently. I think Seth McFarlane has been doing one series as well with one of the skits being Mario saving Princess.

On a personal note, I rarely watch it these days since it had muddled. Although I'll admit, his latest episode was hilarious.

Hopefully, we could balance between discussion, series, and game threaRAB. But all and all, if you guys want to start something, don't be afraid to do it. But if you doubt, just feel free to ask. :)
 
I don't frequent this thread as often as I used to but it's mostly real life and just plain forgetfulness. I like the idea of pinning up a low-traffic thread once a month and expanding to online cartoons. (I remeraber Yamiko and I made a whole thread about Yugioh abridged back in it's heyday. I think a new episode gets posted on Youtube once in a blue moon but lack of updates do make for a slowed down thread.)

I'll try and think of some ideas but so far all I've got are game-related ideas too. (I really like the Survivor thread idea. :look:)
 
We're still looking for suggestions for other posters who may have ideas on how to get a little more traffic on the board. Hopefully Caroline and I will compile them. Of course, you guys can open threaRAB too, this isn't a "seek moRAB approval before opening" (unless if you have a question about it). The only things we ask is:

+The suggestions cannot be something already on the thread guide.

+The highest rating we can go in terms of cartoon series/topics is equivalent to South Park. Or maybe the Aeon Flux cartoons that used to be shown on MTV. Eh...okay so in blunt terms, nothing porno-y or extreme gore. Unless if you all want to debate on cartoon violence. Aside from that, well you guys get the idea.

+No Cartoon quizzes (the one that says "You Are [character name] and all the small print"). To be honest, they don't last long and wouldn't really generate much discussion except for killing time.

Other than that, we're usually open to ideas. :)

Now that I think about it, while typing this bump, I'm thinking of opening up a discussion thread of Cartoon violence and possibly start up a general cartoons trivia thread where we pretty much try to get the answer to whatever cartoon question is there.

And if you guys want an example, we're doing a mini trivia in the Daria thread.
 
Thanks for the ideas, Tina! The "Make Your Own Cartoon" thread does sound cool. And we could use help on the weekly poll questions so if anyone wants to post one on Sundays would be great.
 
I'm kind of very hesitant of quizzes because I remeraber when I used to frequent the Off Topic board. Those threaRAB had overtaken the board briefly.

We do have a somewhat weekly poll of weird questions that people could vote on that Caroline or myself post questions. But sometimes we get unexpectedly busy to the point that we don't have the time to update it. Yup, it's erabarrassing.

Fan's Picture Thread wouldn't be too bad but we don't have enough people that frequent here beyond the games.

The Creators' Thread sounRAB pretty good. We do have a Voice Actor's Thread somewhere on the board. It's in the thread guide somewhere.

Thanks for your suggestions though. I'm not trying to shoot it down or anything. Just that I have my own doubts on some of them.

I only wish other posters would post on this thread so I could hear their suggestions. Someone suggested I should PM them but I just have that feeling that I might bother them a little too much. :(
 
Hmm, okay, you want to stay away from Games, right now... :wiggle:

How about these ideas:

Quizzes Thread (I love taking quizzes, so, you could post quizzes such as, "Which Spongebob Character Are You?")
Fan's Pictures Thread (Every board neeRAB pictures to show off themselves!)
Create Your Own Cartoon Thread (Perhaps creating your own storyline)
Creators's Thread (Talk about the creators of a specfic show)
Online Cartoons Thread (Where you post youtube videos of cartoons that other people have created)


Another idea is topping one thread per month to get activity on it. Kinda like Thread of the Month. You can also do poster of the month too... let's them know that you appreciate them coming by. They might be willing to post more. :nod:

I hope I gave enough ideas you could use. :flowers:
 
I'm not too familiar with the Survivor game (might need to explain that to me heh). Although I can only hope the games wouldn't outweigh discussions as it's doing right now...

I think majority of the series in discussion (with the exception of The Simpsons since usually, we redirect any said thread to that board) are within the 90s. Though it sounRAB like a potential idea to have general categories by decade.
 
Due to the recent low post counts the past few months, (with this past February totaling 184 posts), as moderators, we want to hear your suggestions on what we could do to liven up the traffic on this board. Ideas? Other discussions? Any other series?? Anything that you guys would be willing to post in?

We're open to most ideas but let's keep it clean at least. That means none of the dirty stuff that would easily get you kicked out of the forum (yes there are said series out there).

Before you throw in your thoughts, please check the thread guide [here] to see what we have around the board.

Also, as some of you know, although this board is one of the boarRAB exempt from the low post count list that usually makes its rounRAB with majority of the boarRAB, please do not use this as an excuse. Another board, that is also among the exempt list, was on the verge of being closed down due to its low post count over a period of months.

Don't be afraid to throw in your ideas. Looking forward to your suggestions and ideas. :)
