Suggestions on making my Toyota 4-Runner a smoother ride.?

I have factory standard suspension and shocks, but I really never leave the paved road and I would prefer a much smoother ride. I am using a nice radial tire made for the road. Is there a simple fix that does not involve major alteration?
 
depends on whats causing the bad ride, the first thing to do is check the air pressure, match it to the spec's on the drivers door. if that's ok then you may need to replace the struts and shocks if you have more than 50k.
