Contract ends in 10 days! While the G1 will always have a special place in my heart, it's time for a new phone

Issue: I cannot and will not stay with tmobile. I own a vacation home that I spend my weekends @ and I get NO signal whatsoever. My parents (atnt), sister+husband (verizon), and neighbor (sprint) all get signal but me While I've brought this up to tmo, it's still no dice.

So, I'm kinda digging the evo, although the phone itself reminds me of a big @ss garage door opener, the epic because of the keyboard, AND the r2d2 phone (I love star wars lol ) Can Verizon phones be rooted?? lol

I don't know if I should wait it out until January, or if I should make the jump to lightspeed in 10 days. Please provide suggestions, they are most appreciated
 
Yes Verizon phones can be rooted. You have three high end Android devices thats worth looking at. The Droid X, Incredible, and the Fascinate. The Droid X is Verizon's best all-around Android phone. The Incredile has HTC Sense U.I. The Facsinate looks more like a female's phone, if looks matter to you, but plagued with Bing services instead of google. You could wait on something better, but I say you should buy now, and jump on the buy 1 get 1 free deal. Can't beat that.
 
What about the droid 2?

I just got off the phone with my brother in law...if I join him and my sister on their 1400 min + txt plan, my cost per month is 70 bucks. That's access to 1400 mins, 5 slots for family and friends, texts, and data. That's better than what I pay now, and what I would pay if I was in a plan by myself.

I also know that verizon is coming out with their 4G by the end of the year, which means it would take a few months for a 4g phone to be released.....makes me want to sign up for a one year agreement instead of 2........
