Greetings,
I have been using a prepaid phone for a couple years now since I didn't use it much. I have recently graduated college and am starting work, and it is finally time to upgrade to a plan.
I have chosen Cingular as my provider at this time.
There are so many phones on the market, and I'm having a lot of trouble choosing one. I have checked Amazon to see that a lot of phones have great deals since I will be signing a new plan.
I am overwhelmed by the number of phones available. I would appreciate all suggestions:
Criteria:
-- Reception is key. I need my phone to be able to make and receive dependable calls.
-- Size is not the most important factor, as long as it fits in a pocket.
-- Flip phone versus 'stick' phone does not matter either. I am open to both options, as well as some of the more unique designs like I've seen some with Sony Ericsson.
-- A camera is a feature not necessary for me to have.
-- I need a speakerphone
-- And A crisp color display
-- I will only be using my phone in the midwest... no overseas stuff
-- I'll probably send some occasional text messages
-- I really want to be able to download content to my phone from some of those free sites.. sounds, wallpapers, or whatever. Alongside, programmable ringtones are a plus.
-- Listening to music isn't a big deal.. I don't need an FM tuner or anything like that. MP3 / multi-format ringtones is a bonus though.
-- I'll need some good memory to hold contacts and whatever I download (rings or games), but I don't need any expansions.
-- No PTT needed.
-- The PDA/Smartphone thing interests me a little bit, but not much. I am a developer so it might be cool to be able to design some of my own applications for my phone... if there's a NON-PDA phone which would allow me to use my own programs, that would be a lot better.
I am not particular to any specific brand as of this moment.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone about your experiences with phones and what you recommend.
Thanks a ton in advance. You're really helping me sift through all these phones, and helping me choose a few to look at closer.
