Suggestions for movies when you want a really good cry.

Simon Birch is a film to make you cry.

I never ever cry to films or anything like that, but this film had me hiding behind my hanRAB...... it really does pull you in.
You will sniffle at this film at the very least.

It does often depend on my mood. And some films make me cry (or laugh) only on the first viewing while others every time I watch (the mark of a good film for me!)

One which never fails in upsetting me is Kramer vs Kramer. Others are Requiem for a Dream, Life is beautiful, Jean de Florette and Love Story. But most of all - When a man loves a woman :o - I know a lot of people slate it and I can see why but it really gets me everytime.

(Also Indecent proposal but you didnt hear that from me)

Fantastically weepy film for me too. My other fav's are 'Love Story' and 'The Way We Were' with Robert Redford and Barabara Streisand.

Sometimes i feel the need for a good weepy film. The trouble is with Love Story - i have seen it soooo often that i start crying as soon as it starts :o

OMG I was just going to say that! Me, my mum and my brother all sat down to watch it, in the end we were all blubbing like babies! So I'm another one for Inside I'm Dancing, and also Titanic...

Only one film that is guaranteed to make me weep inconsolably

Untamed Heart - with Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei

At least a half box of tissues before the wailing subsides to a mere keening

Empire of the Sun
at the very end when Jim's mum and dad pass him by when they are looking through the crowd of children, and the look on his face when they finally find him. Gets me everytime.

I LOVE that film. I've seen it countless times and it gets me every single time.

Also, "The Way We Were" - lump in the throat the size of a golf ball.

Oh - and "I'll be right here" - end of ET. Gets me sobbing.

Beaches, Steel Magnolias for me.

If you want to feel suicidal you could try My Life with Michael Keaton or Sophie's Choice!

Edward ScissorhanRAB - maybe.

Funny how people always have such high regard for films that have them in tears, and will often rate them over those that don't. George Lucas once commented that involving an audience emotionally is the easiest thing - just take a kitten and have some guy wring its neck.

Fair point, George.
