Suffering in Pain and No one Can Help Me

And another vote for the chiro - my ortho actually sent me to one. We are lucky here as there is an excellent chiro who is also an MD! So lots of the docs work with him on problems. You could also try some stretching...have someone pull gently on your head - sort of like being in traction...or traction if you could get a set of bars. Lordy, that makes your neck feel so good. I was carrying too much stuff in my purse and ended up with a pinched nerve in my shoulder. Rather than go to the doctor, I talked with my trainer. Now he's got me doing some hanging exercises to pull that back up off the nerve and it's really helping a lot.

A chiro who wants you to come 3 times a week with no end in sight is NOT a good chiro. A good one will treat according to the amount of improvement you achieve with each successive visit. You should feel substantial improvement within the first 3 visits. If you don't, you should consult someone else.

I read all the people telling you to try a chiropractor and I think that is a good idea and have decided to take the advice for myself. I always try to research doctors ratings before I chose one, I use ratemds.com for that. Anyway, I ran across a chiropractor in my area, Columbus, Ohio, that has a wonderful rating and she believes in and uses the Gonstead Technique, which I am just begining to learn about, thought you might want to look into it as well. take care, and God Bless You, Connie

I also hear conflicting ideas about chiropractors, but here is my advice... definitely check out reviews from other people who have visited the chiropractors in your area. If you don't know too many people around the area since you are new, try looking online. You should be able to find some kind of ratings or reviews. I'd imagine that a good chiropractor won't having you come back THAT often (not 3 times a week!) and should be able to help you out. I know a co-worker who had to see one very often and they said it was very painful and they felt much worse afterwards! This is the reason why it's definitely good to get a referral or recommendation FIRST to make sure you don't go to someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Once a find a decent doctor, I usually ask them for recommendations about different specialists too. I'm always asking around co-workers or friends for advice anytime I'm new to an area and find it very helpful!

Best of luck to you! I am so sorry you have to go through the pain and I hope you can get everything looked at soon. I know some people who have had pinched nerves and it was definitely a challenge for them. It was painful and uncomfortable and took quite a long time to feel normal again, and they still get random pains every now and again.
