Can someone please help me with this? It is very frustrating and concerning.
I couldn't really think of another board that this is better suited for.
I am a 24 year old male. 6' 230 pounds (so fairly overweight).
Recently, starting about two weeks ago, I started being unable to get full after eating anything. Large meals, small meals, healthy meals, or unhealthy meals, it doesn't matter. My hunger level hasn't really increased (maybe slightly). But what happens is I eat a huge meal and my hunger level just goes to "neutral". I'm not still hungry, but I don't have a full feeling that I've gotten all my life. I can feel my stomach expanding with food and my brain tells me when I've eaten too much, but my stomach just doesn't have that belly-holding full feeling. I go from hungry to normal.
Obviously, I've frantically researched my symptoms and as a self-diagnosed hypochondriac, I'm sure that I'm dying.
Diabetes - Possibility. My grandfather has had diabetes all his life. No one else in my immediate or extended family have it. I'm overweight, so obviously that is a contributing factor. Also, I do not have a single other diabetes symptom. No high levels of thirst. No frequent urination. No fatigue. And I'm not losing weight. Also, I had a blood test just a few weeks ago for an upcoming surgery and I believe glucose levels were fine (although I know that's not the 8 hour fast that is typical for a diabetes test.
Thyroid Issue - Same thing as diabetes in that I don't really have any of the other symptoms associated with this.
With the two disorders above, both talk about extreme or excessive hunger. I do not believe I have this. I am not STARVING all the time and eating does nothing to help this. I get hungry at about the same rate as I always have, and then after eating I am just simply "not hungry" but not full. Therefore, I don't think I can be classified as having extreme hunger - but maybe what I have fits that description?
Before this started, I had a week of eating absolutely miserably. Lots of fast food and bad snacks. And then I had a meal which always left me feeling miserably full and I realized it didn't make me so at all. Now, no matter what, when, or how much I eat I always feel that way.
One other random tidbit, my blood test revealed I have slightly elevated liver enzymes. I know that could mean diabetes, but not sure how else that might affect this.
Can someone shed some light on this for me? I am sort of freaking out as I have no idea what could be causing this. I have a doctor's appointment scheduled but not for another month or so. Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: Sorry for the novel, but I appreciate you reading!
EDIT2: I am also not losing weight, which I know is another sign of diabetes or thyroid issue.
