i got a sub with a amp attached to it from a friend and ive been having some problems. first of all, i got it for free, and he doesnt know how many watts the sub is or how many watts the amp is. so the problem with it is when i play some songs, like hypnotize by young jeezy, the sub bumps and my trunk rattles. then i play other songs and it sounds so-so. i tried playing around with the lpf settings on the stereo, but i didnt know what it meant. any info on why some songs bump and others dont?

the low pass filter determines where your sub basically starts to roll off...your going to want to set it around 75 to 80 hz....maybe lower if your speakers have good midbass. Also certain frequencies simply work better on certain enclosures, and it also depends on vehicle, power, and the song itself. Hypnotize has some LOW notes, and those are the ones that cause stuff to shake...
