Subs or Dubs?!?

Subtitles Definatly, the dubbed voices sound like crap, have you heard the sailor moon dub? Sailor Uranus? Shee is the worst dubbed voice ever......

Well, the subtitles you read is transilated by someone. Subs are pretty much dubs in Japaneese. I know alot of the older dubs suck, but they are much better now. The voices will always match the characters better in dubs. Anime characters are usualy always white. That's why i think dubs are better than subs. Unless you can understand Japaneese.

1) Subs are not dubs in Japanese... Its' the original material. Are you saying that anime is usually voiceless?
2) Yeah they're alot better now. But some are still godawful.
3) What makes you think anime characters are mostly white? They could be asian too. Asians are mostly "white" skinned.

That's ridiculous. You do realize that the dub is just something you hear that is also translated by someone? It's no different than a sub, it's just audio instead of visual.

Personally, I prefer subs. I'd much rather hear the original voices and emotions. However, it's not a blanket statement kind of thing. I have heard some good dubs, they don't all suck. I watched Trigun dub with my girlfriend cuz she can't read that fast and it gets old having to repeat everything said when there is a large amount of text, that or having to pause it when it comes up hehe. Anyway, that wasn't too bad.

I don't mind. I prefer dubs but it doesn't really bother me. What bothers me are pretentious anime fans who believe anime should only be watched with subtitles.

No it's not the original ****, unless you speak japaneese. If you speak Japaneese i could understand if you prefer subs, but alot of people here dont.

most dubs i've been watching latley are pretty good.

I know they are asian, but anime characters have white skin Why do i think that, well watch anime.

If you find yourself doing more reading than watching the actual anime during a sub, then you should probably improve your reading speed. It takes me less than a second to read a line of text and I do it while still watching the events on the screen. Unless you are watching on some huge 32 inch beastmobile of a screen, it isn't difficult to see the what is going on-screen.

It's not like in the current era of anime, that the characters move or do anything important while they are talking, anyways. Animation studios, generally, are too lazy to have characters do anything dynamic while having a conversation. Any dialogue during action or tense scenes is also pretty limited.

This is probably the poorest reason to watch a dub. Honestly, how would you go about watchinig a foreign film without subtitles (ex. Pan's Labyrinth)?
I know, I'm going to wait until this is poorly dubbed, the dialogue is butchered because I can't fit everything in, and it probably gets censored and edited, then enjoy it.

Great fucking plan, dubbies.

There seriously is no valid reason to watch dubs other than if you are already under the watch of the law for piracy.

Sadly Freedom there is a large % of the population who wouldn't watch shows like Pan's Labyrinth because of the subs.
Similarly there are still people around who seem incapable of reading, or reading at a respectable pace.

Either way, the reasoning I've seen in this thread for the dubbies is terrible. Firstly; The text we get in our subs is more true to the origional. In the dubs they HAVE to change the text to sync the syllabels to the mouth movements AND fit it into a time frame. In subs the subbers don't seem to care whether we can keep up (See: Ghost in the Shell fansubs), they get all of the meaning in as close as their skills allow. Unless they're speed subbing, but I don't bother with speedsubs, I want decent translations and I'm willing to wait.

^
1. Pan's Labirynth is a movie, not a show
2. Watching a movie with subtitles is nowhere near the same as watching an anime with subtitles.
3. If you ask me, the reason I see for the subbies is not only terrible it's elitist
and it's freaking me the hell out, subbies are the reason I do not like anime the way I used to.

Same here
people act like dubs are sin

That's not true, you can't compare forgein films to watching anime.

And yes there are plenty of valid reasons to dubs
some people don't speak japanese, it's easier on the ears to some people such as myself, so don't sit and say "that's not a valid reason"
It's different strokes for different folks.

Preach!

It's very scary and extremly annoying
I think those anime fans need jesus big time.

Surprisingly, it's not even hard on a big screen. I watch my anime on a 110" screen and I don't really find it any harder to read the subs and watch the video than I do on my 17" monitor. All depends on how far back you sit.
