You know, I just recently watched the Night Watch movies. I accidentally put the English side in- it's dual sided, so you have to flip them upside down to watch in Russian. That's one thing that drives me nuts, is live action dubbed. It doesn't bother me nearly as much with cartoons.
I want to be able to watch Smurfs in the original Belgian, since I speak enough Belgian to follow the dialogue, and it's closer to the original intent of the Belgian creator. Plus, I know a little bit about Belgian culture for having listened to my boss talk about Beligan beer and its superiority to Dutch beer, and having read all of Lieutenant Lollipop's posts. (assuming he still goes by that sobriquet. Which is a word that comes from French, which is very close to Belgian.) Also, I like Belgian waffles.
Ok, for sure, now I'm just being an ass.
Also, I HAVE seen the Smurfs in French, but it was Canadian French, which is not quite Belgian. But it was originally in English, made by Hana Barbera, based on the original Belgian property. Goddamn Americans, perverting everything that is good and right about foreign entertainment. Look at what they did to Pop Idol.
Ok, I'm still being an ass. Nobody tell Lowell.
