Subs or Dubs?!?

I myself prefer subs to dubs, as with subs you can hear the anime as it was meant to be heard. Also when things get english dubbed they tend to censor and butcher the anime too... (Naruto I'm looking at you)

Fixed.

The majority of anime that are licensed don't actually get aired on TV and are primarily aimed at the real fans. As such, their DVD releases are unaltered and are faithfully translated in the dub (though the quality of acting varies).

As for Naruto, nothing about it was actually butchered. The only significant alterations were for the sake of censorship to allow it to be aired on a network and timeslot for children. While it is true that Naruto's voice actress is annoying, it does fit the character since he's annoying in the Japanese version as well.

Now One Piece when 4Kids had it, that was a travesty. If you want to complain on how bad dubs can get, look no further. Everything was changed and edited, even minor details, and the acting was atrocious. It probably comes close to being probably the worst dub ever created.

Well since most anime fans only watch fansubs, most of their exposure to dubs is from what they see on tv e.g. cartoon network. these shows will normally have to be censored and edited in some way so that they can be aired in the time slot so its obvious why many watchers associate dubbing with 'Buthering' anime.
