Subs or Dubs?!?

I myself like subs, only because I like the idea of keeping anime in its original form and not messing with it. . . too much changes in my opinion. The only one I watch in english is Pokemon, and thats probably because I grew up on the dubbed version. Then again, I have converted to Sailor Moon in subs after growing up on dubs, so who knows.

I do that with certain movies just because I can't understand the dialog because of the character's accent or if there is too much noise in the room.

I've done that a lot during my life. But like a user above said, it can be too noisy, or the film too quiet, to hear the dialogue. I find reading so much easier

You know what is hilareous? When the Japanese try to emulate English voices in anime. It's worse than the dubbing
Black Lagoon is particularly bad for it.

You know what. In some anime the sub translates not only the conversations of the characters, but also what's being said in the background by comm systems or things like that. This can become very annoying. A good (or bad) example would be the fansubs of Divergence Eve. Conversations on the "bridge" are almost impossible to follow.

At first I didn't even get they were speaking English. Makes you wonder why they even try.

It's like Jacky Chan: Du ju undastan de wods dat a commin outa my mous.

Everytime I watch a television show on my TV, the subs are always on. Mainly, because I don't know how to turn them off. Lol. Some people also use subs for English spoken shows during the nighttime when everyones asleep. My parents get mad if I turn the volume up on the TV while they're trying to sleep, which is why I love to put english Subs for English-spoken TV shows.

Anywho, I think it depends on the Anime whether or not you want to watch it in English with no subs or in Japanese with English subs. For me, I'd rather watch the English versions, only because it's my first language and I don't know Japanese. But, as I've said, it depends on the anime. Like, if it's Naruto: Shippuden, then I'd watch it in Japanese with English subtitles and not have a problem with it.

I normally watch subs but am force on to watch dubs some times. Dubs aren't bad but the sub voice usually sticks in my brain especially when I'm editing the episodes in my brain.

yeah its weird watching dubs after u got used to one voice....like im on bleach 170 right now...and watching 170 episodes(some a few time) it's weird hearing it dubbed

Touche. That man is a legend. I was aiming for more around the area of non voice actors aimed for more adult material and not Looney Toons.
But that man is still a legend.

That depends. I like subs, of course, and I kinda like how the Japanese dub sounds... but there are some good English dubs, so I could say they're ok too. Although, since I couldn't get any English, I watch more subs than dubs... @.@
