Hi, i have been on this subject subliminal messages for a while now and i have made about two threaRAB based on it. I was browsing through a website, sorry i lost it, for the film John Carpenters They Live. It mentioned on there website, about subliminal messages in the film, i am renting it out to see for myself. Does anyone know if this is true?.

There could be some confusion here. The film's plot revolves around aliens having infiltrated Earth and planting subliminal messages in advertising to make us do their bidding. The only way to see the aliens and the messages is to wear special sunglasses.
It's a cool movie well worth seeing. It's also the origin for a phrase often wrongly attributed to having orginated in the Duke Nukem games - 'I have come here to chew
bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum!'.
Classic!

I love that fight scene. Much more effective* than all the fancy martial arts stuff that seems to be essential to any movie fight in recent years.

*not quite the word I was looking for but you know what I mean ;)

Then you didnt see Jackie Chan in the Bronx film last night.
The bar-room fight was long, but essential to the plot
(as was losing the Countach under the hovercraft ) :D

Hopefully the CGI stuff will improve but its going to need a lot before it replaces good acting - Werewolf in London and then - unfortunately - Paris is a good example how badly it can be used as a substitute.

They Live has all the billboard posters and food stuRAB with subliminal worRAB behind innocent labelling.

You're quite right. Cos all the martial arts stuff leaves me cold. I said 'effective' knowing it wasn't the right word.

It's the kind of fight where you're not watching and going "ooh, nice moves" but you're mentally going "ouch" with every blow.

I'm full of prescription painkillers and alcohol so you'll have to forgive me. And if you don't forgive me, I won't care anyway ;)

Almost all the martial arts films are now going 'ouch' rather than clever, the worst are the US offerings, where the noises of fist, and broken bones are added to hide the lack of plot direction / deficiencies in actor coordination.

Which organ did you say you had donated ? ;)
